I know this is an old thread, but for whatever reason this week I have been in places that are dirtier than usual I guess. So, today I went to a mall. Not only was the mall floor very dirty, but I had to walk back and forth through a parking garage. My toes and soles are now completely black and I love that. The sides of my big toes and insteps even got dirty I guess from however I was standing or sitting. So, I'm probably alone in this but apparently not as of a few years ago.
Haha, I remember when I was younger and hardly showered, my feet were always so black on the bottoms! I kinda miss it, but dirt never seems to stick like that anymore... Anyway, to answer your question, exile, I'm a female and I enjoy having dirty feet
Yesterday my feet were dusty from walking through a pile of builders rubble in badly fitting shoes ( not laced up tight enough). So whe stripped naked at the beach I enjoyed standing near the waves and letting them break all over my tired naked feet, and they loved it. Yesterday was my first proper nude exposure to the sun this summer season, and I loved it.:sunny:
One of the best things about going barefoot!! I have no idea why, just love it when my feet get dirty. Glad to see there are some others who share the same! I’m not a full time barefooter, don’t go barefoot very much round where I live in London. I did go barefoot in central London once though early one morning - there was hardly anyone around so I just slipped my shoes off and chucked them in my bag. It hadn’t rained for a few weeks and the pavements were really grimy – I looked at the bottoms of my feet after just a minute and they were black already!! I wimped out after I ran into a few people after a bit. Would love to have the guts to go barefoot all day!! I do go barefoot a lot on holiday though, I seem to have a lot more confidence - I think its because I don’t live there and care a lot less about what people think. I think people also are more accepting if they see you barefoot in a holiday resort rather than a city centre…. everyones relaxed on holiday so they just don’t really care! I was in Ibiza last year and spent a lot of time barefoot. I remember walking back from the beach one day and we decided to walk through town on the way back instead of the coast road, we walked up the main roads and into a few shops. The streets were a bit dirty but didn’t look too bad, but I looked at my feet bottoms when I got back to the hotel, oh my god I’ve never seen them so filthy, they were just caked with dirt!! Love seeing women in bare feet too, I think a barefoot woman is very sexy!
Hi free30. Barefooting in London is awesome! As you say, your soles are black in no time, especially if you use the tube! Don't worry too much about wimping out at this stage. I used to think it felt like I had let myself down and not done what I set out to do when I had one of these "attacks". It would suddenly feel like the wrath of God was about to descend and order me to put some shoes on! You are doing the right thing by building up gently when there aren't too many people around, and on holiday when I agree it seems more natural. Do persevere though. Your feet will become tougher, and also you gradually become less concerned about what others are thinking. Take courage and just go for it!!
I can attest to that - I went to the London Green Fair a few weeks ago: bus, train and tube. My feet were gloriously dirty at the end of the day! (I was a bit wary of the escalators though - what if my foot got stuck as I stepped off and was torn to ribbons - but all was well)
Hey charlie35. Thanks for the encouragement! Yes ill keep going, planning another barefoot walk soon, and on holiday in spain at the end of august, planning to be barefoot as much as i can during that. I know what you mean - last time a guy had a little laugh to himself and i thought omg i need to put shoes on NOW! On the other hand others didnt even look at me! I guess almost all people just dont care anyway so i should just get over it.. And a recent health scare has taught me again that life is too short, so i should just do what i want and go for it but the self conciousness thing still stops me at the moment... Ill keep going but feel more confident when im with someone rather than on my own (even if theyre not barefoot themselves), so perhaps ill take a friend!
Yeah i can see the danger there! But i spose just concentrate on where you step and be careful to jump off just before the end and will be ok! would like to go on the tube bf too one day..
Clay, dust, dirt, and other earthen materials - yes. Petroleum, fecal matter, and other less-desirable filth - no. One time I covered my feet with a copious amount of black walnut hull juice. They were jet-black for over a month and I loved it.
I'd love to go barefoot on the tube in London - never done it but hope to at some point - just need to find an excuse to go London! I know exactly what you mean about wimp out moments - sometimes I'm really confident and relaxed and can go anywhere barefoot without a care in the world, yet other times I have a "conformist attack" and feel the need to reach for my flip flops (if I'm carrying them), and then as you say, I feel that I've somehow failed myself and start beating myself up about it. Actually, I find reading posts on this forum and knowing that I'm not alone in having this strange urge to be barefoot all the time really helps in terms of confidence levels.
Yeah its good to know that there are other people out there who enjoy it too since i found this forum. And perhaps that it isnt strange at all, one of lifes simple pleasures that costs nothing!
excellent remark ! that's also why a lot of people on the other hand would never try that... because it is for free, thus it must be something low-brow. i'd like to hear opinions about this.
I do think our biggest fear is not stepping on glass, getting dirty feet etc etc, but rather worrying (unnecessarily) about what other people will think of us. The daft thing is, most of the time other people don't give a damn, they don't even notice nor care that we are barefoot. And if they do, as said elsewhere on this forum, 9/10 times they are not disapproving, but just jealous of our freedom and actually wishing they were barefoot themselves! As for those (few) that do actually disapprove.....so what if they do. They're our feet, it's our lives, we live in (I hope) free countries...so what others think is neither here nor there!!!! (Am feeling very strongly about this subject tonight as it's such an important part of my lifestyle).:sunny:
I've always suspected that outsiide was cleaner than inside and my somewhat limited barefoot experience has affirmed that. This forum has made me more conscious of the experience of being barefoot, the sort of grounded, connected, natural sensation of feet in contact with ground. One of my favorite things to do is go to the pub when there are musicians playing, get a littlle beer buzz and dance all night. I always feel better doing this barefoot, my shoes seem to be sort of in the way of me letting loose as I wish to and if I keep them on, I seem to be constantly conscious of them. Also it's easier to not slip on a wet floor when you can actually *feel* that it's wet. When I leave the pub, my feet are totally black and that's part of the experience. I wash them before I get in my bed because the instant I am in bed I feel uncomfortable with the grimey feeling.
Um, yeah I would think that sticky beer feet would definitely cause black feet. Cheers and make sure you spill a bit.
summer is here and barefooting never was so pleasant to me. no more cracks or slits which means no pain, warm ground, barefoot rides of all kind , its bliss. i noticed, though, that i never get really dirty feet , not to mention black feet. do you country fellows get black soles anywhere 'round there? even in town there is nothing collecting over my feet but khaki dust . black soles are a sign of big city, i guess.
The only time I remember getting really black soles was when I went to the WalMart near my house with a friend. we were there for quite some time, and I decided to just walk around looking at games that I wanted, but had no money for (lol), and rummaging through our garage which was never cleaned in the 3 years we've lived in this house. I suppose the dirt kept piling up. or something.
