So, I finally went out in the woods naked, and it felt good. I just layed in the sun and did a little walking around since I'm still worried I'll be seen (as the woods aren't as big as they used to be...)

I've gone out in the woods barefoot numerous times before, and am often barefooted when weather permits just in general, but I kept stepping on prickers! I think I even stepped on a piece of glass and cut my foot....(It bled a little...)

My feet aren't wimpy, but will they get even tougher and get used to stepping on pricker bushes? I don't want being in pain to stop me from finally being able to take a nude hike :p

Yes they eventually will. It may take some time depending on how much and where you go barefoot. Good luck.

Woods and mountain hikes barefoot are the best training grounds, you won't get to a point where they are imune to thorns, and to a certain degree, toughned to glass, but with prickers, your feet will get tuff against it.You compromise yhorn patches by dragging your feet or shuffling it,I grew up in a thorny part of the world, and every three steps were in thorns, and we went to school barefoot, your feet will toughen, but the occasi
onal thorn will find its way into yout soles, but prickers later become like a carpet

That must have been nice! I think that is right so childrens feet can develop and grow properly, without being squashed into shoes that need replacing every year because theyre too small! Ive heard that in New Zealand its common for people to send their kids to school barefoot before a certain age/grade. Is that still the case in SA?

Hi, I think you just have to check over the area you are interested in and plan for it. Shoes suck and clothes do too. I only go to a couple of parks in my area that I find barefoot friendly because they are absent from sticker weeds. It makes for a wonderful barefoot exprience. As far as going nude, can't do that at the park.

In SA,the primary schools(80-90%)actually encourage their pupils to attend school barefoot. In some schools, their prospectus clearly state that kids should rather attend barefoot. In other schools they make a point of it to encourage parents to let their kids attend barefoot, and in some schools the rules reads that kids could wear shoes if they wanted to,or that shoes are optional.Other schools again forbid the wearing of sandals, and prefer kids to be barefoot. In our immediate neighborhood, all the primary schools are barefoot schools.

It has been my experience that as your soles becomes more calloused, prickers become less of an issue. With only one foot woodland trails are a bit more challenging and I need to keep a lookout ahead for potential hazards. However, my foot is highly calloused from crutching barefoot on a wide range of urban surfaces so it is usually not much of a problem.
