I had bought a syringe on Golden Teacher shrooms for my friend who said he knew how to grow them. Apparently, he put them on a log of soggy rotted wood in his basement. Will this work? Will they be safe to eat? He said his basement is really damp and muggy at all times, I'm not sure of the temperature though. I live in Maine, so I'm assuming his basement isn't to warm. This will be my first time trying shrooms, and I rather not get sick from it. Any information or advice would be nice. Thanks.
I think they're safe to eat but they might not have much effect (if the temperature in that basement where they were grown wasn't warm enough).
No offense but it sounds like he has not the slightest clue of what he is doing; a simple google of how to grow psilocybe cubensis will show this fact really quick. He's trying to treat p. cubensis like p. azurescens, no go; google pf tek and start there. Just use google and not his word, you'll learn vast amounts of accurate info in a few minutes
Your friend just wasted your spore syringe....... First kick him in the groin and buy another syringe..... then go here http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=416240&f=118 There is so much misinformation about mushrooms out there it is retarded. I had a guy the other day tell me that shrooms will only grow on black angus cow manure and nothing else and couldn't be convinced otherwise....in his mind he was right and I was wrong...period! I have never wanted to pistol whip someone so badly in my life
Actually he is doing it right. He just didn't give me much details about how he was growing them, so I got a little worried he was doing wrong. I was more worried about the other bacteria's that I could potentially be eating. He actually put the rotted wood in a fish tank with heating pads underneath it, set to 106 degrees. He said they look amazing, so I guess I'll just wait and see haha. I guess I was just being cautious, because I really didn't know how to grow them, but I looked it up and decided to just ask him myself.
