What were you parents views on sex? Did they see it as taboo, normal, etc?

My parents gave me the talk when I was about 10. Although I knew what sex was at that point. Basically, they insisted that sex was for "grown ups" and that it was something you did only after you'd been dating someone for a while.

The one strange thing I remember is that they were very concerned with me being safe. They always brought up how things can go wrong when alcohol is involved and I was horrified when they bought me a huge box of condoms the day after I introduced a girlfriend to them. (I was 15 at the time and actually not having sex at that point.)

When I went to community college and still lived at home I remember not feeling awkward coming downstairs with my girlfriend on (most) Saturday mornings. The first time they were a little surprised but I felt like they knew what was up and approved.
