Anyone doing this? I haven't tried it but I'm looking into it for this summer. I have 25 strawberry plants I just received from burpee and I've been checking out some systems. Let's talk.

When most people think of hydroponics they automatically jump to people growing marijuana. When in reality there are quite a few people who grow vegetables and fruits with hydroponics.
There is a good start up kit that you can buy at most retail nurseries called "emilies garden" the only draw back to this is that it only has 6 reservoirs, really limiting you to what you can grow. Also with this set up the root system will always be submerged in water. which isnt the best for the plants health, but will still do the trick.

In all honesty you should start with sometime besides strawberries for your first hydroponics grow. Although it can be done strawberries are usually pretty tricky to get going in hydroponics.

You can easily make your own system set up with 4 inch drain pipe, a table with a slight slant on it, a reservoir for the water to flow to, a pump to pump it back to the top, and a timer.

I will be making my own set up soon for vegetables and will possibly make a tutorial on it.

Sorry for the late response, you may have monsters of strawberries by now without my help.

What method of hydroponics are you thinking of using? I'm quite well versed and can help you build a system if you don't already have one!

Deep Water Culture (DWC) is quite easy and can be built very cheaply.

Vertical hydroponic growing systems is best for growing strawberries. Anyone can assemble and operate vertical hydroponic growing systems. It saves water and can be grown in a smaller spaces with high density production.
