My friends and I are interested in making some ayahuasca this summer so I was trying to find some recipes. Some of them call for mimosa hostilis and syrian rue while others use Banisteriopsis caapi and mimosa hostilis.

My question is, is there a difference between the recipes or will they all achieve the same desired effect?

Not really a difference, just a different MAOI ingested. The mimosa hostilis root bark contains the DMT. Syrian Rue is an MAOI and if you know anything about ayahuasca you know that it has to be taken with an MAOI to have an effect.

I'd go with B. Caapi if you want to be proper about it.

If you want ayahuasca, then take ayahuasca (B. caapi). Its harmala profile is alot different than syrian rue and the experience itself is different, most seem to prefer it to rue. You can take either though..alone they are psychoactive at high doses. But if you want dimitri in the mix- then take it in conjunction with either extracted DMT, mimosa (brewed the same way as syrian rue or caapi), chacruna (dmt), or chaliponga (dmt + 5meodmt).

There are some differences between all of these, so its best to just research a lot and then start off slow, then work your way up to higher doses and find your sweet spot

Stay away from rue, go caapi plus chacruna or caapi plus chaliponga. Stay with cielo ( yellow) caapi, or white caapi, or even red. Stay away from black caapi til you season a bit....

Remember, it's called ayahuasca because it's another name for caapi, stay traditional : )

mimosa really is a great and reliable admixture to a brew as well (plus its way more cost effective). It just tastes pretty wretched

I would do a manske extraction on some rue seeds and then just use those for changa or pharmahuasca as well

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I'll stick to b. caapi since there is no point in messing with tradition. Hopefully I'll remember this thread after the trip and I'll let you guys know how it went.

I regret to inform everyone that I was unsuccessful in brewing the ayahuasca. I went on the proper dieta to prepare and followed the recipe precisely but to no avail. Still experienced a purge so I'm not sure what went wrong but hopefully, my next dmt extraction will work out.
