On this 40th Anniversary of the War on Drugs that has cost American taxpayers $1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion dollars), there is no end in sight. Even L.E.A.P., Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, handed a report to the Obama administration detailing the failures of the 40 year drug war. Despite efforts by the Obama admin to stop using the term "War" to describe their War on Americans, and the increase in arrests under his leadership, the War continues on unabated...

Based on the premise that the true objective on this war on freedom is about rescuing us from the "scourge" of drugs then it is a complete failure but I look at it as a sort of Trojan Horse excuse to erode freedoms for folks to accept on the assumption that it's somehow making life more secure- on that premise it has been a success.

Popular acceptance of the fallacy that government has the slightest concern for our well being will prevent regular folks from standing up to an institutional bully that has demonstrated it's intent to trample our rights and freedoms that are inconvenient to expansion of government power and corporate wealth.

Lets look at these simple facts...

Nixon started the war on drugs, when really all he did was sign a bill. A law

Nixon was proven to be corrupt, and was caught on tape literally admitting that he DID NOT CARE about his people's health and ordering people to break laws. If we had competent leaders they would look back at the policies of the condemned and review them thoroughly. Because if they had done that, this wouldn't have been a problem and we MIGHT have had a smaller national debt.

When a war is started by malicious incompetent selfish individuals, those qualities will be seen clear as crystal towards the ass end, no matter what rationalization is put on it in between start date and end date.

I've ranted about it before, so it seems pointless to even bother. But this issue hits a nerve, not just because I'm a casual user of hallucinogenic drugs. Its because I can see this 'war' for what it really is and its not a war at all. When you talk about it from the perspective of the poor bastard who thinks its worth while, anyways. The only time the word 'war' applies truthfully to this failure of a governmental policy is when you call it a war on personal freedom. Which is exactly what it is. Nothing less, but so much more.

Not only is its philosophy flawed, its methods, its tools and its strategies are hopeless. The problem isn't drugs, its what makes them want to take them and even worse, what makes them abuse them. Any man who was REALLY concerned with a 'drug problem' and had plans to change it, would have changed things in areas of life that have nothing to do with drugs. Like personal debt, police and judicial persecution to name JUST a few.

Im convinced that it had more to do with a war on the Hippie culture at the time than it did drugs.

To think, they could have made money if they legalized some of this stuff. But hey, then our economy problem might become less severe. That's no fun at all.

The prisons will stand half emptied. Monuments among many others that stand testament to the injustice, judgmental nature and prohibition failures of the world before. The majority of prison containment space will become vacant. Thousands of jobs will be lost in the correctional community, but that's a good thing.

Maybe those correction officers who no longer have subjects to 'correct' will go do something useful.

They DO make money out of drugs, research who controls the majority of the world's drug production and trafficking and you will find your answer.

That petition should help a little, at least more than just discussing it.

This thread is like the other 2 or 3 threads this month on the same thing.

Like I say before the US is dead serious on the war on drugs as that is part of the prison industrial complex and no way they want it to be legal , but the politicians are anti-marijuana do to the profit and jobs it makes.

Do I think marijuana is going to be legalized yes but NOT going to be now or in 5 or 10 years from now .

Note yes it got started with Harrison Narcotics Tax Act than the FDR and FDA gave the idea government has control to regulate and control.

Yes, our government fails to control us yet again.
Or maybe they're controlling us exactly how they intend to.
Usually, they think things through.. have a plan...

    Angry people are created...
    Ridiculous fines are set up...
    Expensive wars re fought

Revealing something I think to be true... if I will
I think that it is to divide us, the people...
Give us something to bicker about while the Owners of this country get to
Have a blast taking all of the resources for themselves and they get to
Tell us what to do and control us just a little more.
