A group of marijuana dispensary owners has sued the state of Arizona for the right to open. After the new law, voted in by the people, was enacted, the state was supposed to start processing applications June 1st, but hasn't yet. The state is suing the Federal government over the legality of the dispensaries, and is using that as an excuse not to process the applications. The provisions of the new medical marijuana law allow patients to grow their own or to purchase from a dispensary. Hopefully Arizona will sort this out soon, or it will drag thru the courts... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2011/06/14/national/a130703D63.DTL
Good on them. I'm not surprised though. This is a classic example of the government doing what it wants to despite the vote of the people. I hope they sue this fucking place for everything its worth, maybe then I'll be evacuated and never have to look at it again. I want out of this state so bad it hurts. Like it causes me headaches.
This is an interesting situation. There were sections in the law that were put into the law which foresaw these sorts of problems with the conservative head of the state’s Department of Health Services. We should look those up. These sections were written to prevent any obstructions. So, now there are obstructions. What I would like to see is a class action lawsuit by the voters of the state and by all concerned citizens everywhere. This would be awesome. There are tons of Hispanic Americans in the State of Arizona. I sure don't know what state law you are taking about. "…anti-Hispanic laws?" Nope. Never heard of it. I'm sure that if there was an anti-Hispanic law against our citizens, that it would be unconstitutional. Don't you think? Oh, Do you mean the 200 million illegal Mexican nationals who have broke federal law by illegally sneaking into the United States and staying there? One fifth of the population of the whole country of Mexico? Right Now Living here in the U.S. I believe that we should go to war with Mexico and take one fifth of there land, and then give free real estate to all legal U.S. citizens. Free Land for everybody! How 'bout when they (Mexican citizens) get caught smuggling a pound of marijuana into the United States, they get thrown back over the border, scot free. And if you or a U.S. citizen get caught smuggling a pound of marijuana into the United States they get 10 years in federal prison. Did you know that? Maybe you think that's fair? Let's have the 200 million illegal Mexican nationals stay at your house. Meanwhile, I still think that need a class action lawsuit by the voters of the state and by all concerned citizens everywhere.
While I agree that we have immigration issues, those laws apparently impacted residents as well. Excuse me if I hit on a touchy subject, but I think our citizens shouldn't be subject to bigoted madness just because of ethnicity. Personally, I don't care for illegal immigrants. The only thing I hate more about this subject are the greedy pricks who hire them for low wages. I just hate the that law abiding people get caught in the crossfire. Also, I was clueless about the pound of weed thing. Here's hoping that we wake up sooner or later.
All I know is that I haven't smoked pot in over 40 years. I don't smoke pot. But I sure hope they do give the people in need they're Arizona Med Card.
