2011 - What Are You Growing This Year?

    elderberry, black currant, marionberry, evergreen huckleberry, wintergreen, comfrey, nettles, mullein, lemon balm, rosemary, lavender, thyme, oregano, rocket, corn salad, rainbow chard, spearmint, corsican mint, apple mint, strawberry mint, orange mint, indian plum, alfalfa, horseradish, tea (Camellia sinensis), parsley, borage, mugwort, motherwort, blueberry, hops, sunchokes, peas, carrots, spinach, kale, nasturtiums, garden sorrel, chives, leeks, onions, garlic, bush beans, pineapple guava, bloodroot, marshmallow, yarrow, miner's lettuce, kinnikinnick, calendula, echinacea, habanero, ground cherry, potatoe, goji, maralroot, musk mallow, wild ginger, summer savory, rhubarb, parsnip, strawberry, basil, radish, bee balm, valerian, hyssop.

    Probably a few others and I didn't count any of the useful weeds around - some of which I've been cultivating in pots like Prunella vulgaris or self-heal. This is a rental home but fortunately there's also grape, plum, apple, cherry, oregon grape, and asian plum growing here.

    The heat is giving my garden a hard time. It has been 12+ degrees above normal for about 2 weeks in a row.

    This year I have moved things about in the garden to make room for a small chicken coop, and have less room than usuall :(

    New this year;
    Pumpkins and Scots Pine trees! (and birch tree cuttings that aren't looking very well)


    The annuals;

    tomatoes (about 8 varieties)
    Peppers (3 new varieties)
    peas (2 varieties)
    potatoes (2 varieties)
    Onion
    Red onion
    Garlic
    Watercress
    Rocket
    Carrots

    Perennials;
    Raspberries
    Gooseberries
    Blackcurrants
    Blueberies
    Rhubarb

    We are growing tomatoes, acorn squash, butternut squash, onions, carrots, kale, beets, peppers (spicy and bell), pumpkin, watermelon, canteloupe, beans, cucumber, lettuce (volunteer!), eggplant, spinach, brussels sprouts, cabbage, radishes, sunflowers, strawberries and potatoes. We also have a peach tree (new this year), plum tree (got hit and broke in a storm), apple tree, rainier cherries, pear tree and raspberry bushes.
