    Couple of questions

Whats everyone getting for christmas? Or do you prefer not to know.

What would be your perfect present?

(Didn't really know where to put this but I figured here seeing as I'm British.)

I'm just happy to go home for Christmas and spend the holidays with my friends and family. I haven't seen any of them in about three months, but it feels like forever. :(

    Just a question....

Is Christmas just too commercial these days?

    :)

Christmas is really commercialised now and most of the methods of celebrating it have very little to do with commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. One of my friends thinks I'm contradicting myself because I will be giving and recieving presents, money or gifts at christmas time, but I don't consider myself to be christian or any other official religion.

My arguement is that many people are going to run themselves into huge financial problems and lots of stress for the sake of 'a season of goodwill' (which is actually, a season in which suicides and stress levels reach their peak in 'christian' nations), therefore, I see that as having little relation to celebrating the birth of Christ (I think a cheap, joyous, non debt-inducing 'happy birthday Jesus' party would be more appropiate) so wether it can be seen as a christian celebration or festival or not is debateable. Indeed, many people take it upon themselves to choose how they celebrate xmas (i.e. going to church, having a dinner, going on a pubcrawl, having a psychedelic trip, etc, etc) so on that token I think the individual can rightly take it upon themself to choose wether a certain act, be it putting up a tree, buying presents or eating turkey, is to represent a celebration of christmas or not.

Furthermore, look at halloween. Loads of people celebrate halloween in various ways, and yet halloween is a pagan festival. How many people are really aware of that? How many of those who celebrate halloween think of themselves as pagans? Hmmm, not very many. I for one don't.

 is it just me or is anyone else continually tempted to put two ss on the end of christmas?
maybe i slipped into another dimension when i was young where the only difference in reality was one less S in christmass.
actually.....i can think of many more differences between the realities.... ;) :p

    Christmas is definately over-commercialised now.

I would like some new camping equipment, gonna make this summer a summer to remember. Whether I get it I don't know, I don't really ask for anything anymore.

Oh, also I would like snow, I live in a place where it hasn't snowed properly in years and now, if it does it just 'slushes', so that would be really cool.
