John Mayer really does suck. He can play the hell out of some guitar yet he spends all his time writing shitty radio-friendly love ballads.

 

Unfortunately, that's the easiest way to make money and get panties thrown on stage.

it's called "pop"... there are a lot of great musicians/writers that have had a lot of radio play.. Ever heard of Prince? or maybe Elton John? How about Eric Clapton?

 

You don't have to like mainstream, it changes all the time though. It's silly to dislike it because it is pop (not saying anybody does). An artist is never just mainstream. He's just doing his thing (for whatever reason). I think John Mayer actually does what he likes. We don't have to like it of course

 

I think John mayer is getting less shitty with every year. He has a few cool soinding folky songs now... one of them is called ''who says'' I think... I don't hate it. But don't get me started on the ''your body is a wonderland'' type shit... GROSS!

 

Hahaha! I agree shivya. I didn't used to like him because I had only ever heard "your body is a wonderland" type stuff, but my hubby opened my eyes to his other stuff and I actually liked some of it.

 

I don't dislike him because he plays pop music, I dislike him because his pop songs suck.

 

I only dislike his music by the way, got no clue about the guy himself. Since other people clearly enjoy his music a lot I don't think he sucks either. You probably didn't mean it like that I'm sure.

while some of his career choices are questionable I think he's genuinely talented in more ways than one and am thrilled that he has publicly admitted to being a chronic.....welcome to the team justin!!

 

I really don't understand how people smoke pot after 3 or 4 or so years. Do certain people build up tolerance way worse than others? 'cuz I gotta take a week long break just to feel high for 2 days at this point.

 

Perhaps they don't smoke for two days when they smoke pot.
