    Hello,
If you have to abort a trip or someone else needs to get out of the trip here is a guide to do so. This guide is about pharmaceuticals, and how to abort a trip using them. I fully understand that "tripping" is all mental and these means should be used as a last resort. Please, don't rely on these pharmaceuticals. Use psychedelics with cation. I will be updating this periodically and would appreciate any suggestion or changes that need to be made. Thanks, and enjoy.

Use anti-psychotics as a last resort, they have the worst side effects and are more dangerous.

    Alprazolam (Xanax)
    Type: Benzodiazepine
Dosage: .25-1mg Low Anxiety, 1-3mg High Anxiety
    Possible Harm:
    Time: 5-10 minutes under tongue
    Effects: Lowers Anxiety, sedative

    Diazepam (Valium)
    Type: Benzodiazepine
Dosage: 2-10mg Low Anxiety, 10-30mg High Anxiety
    Possible Harm:
    Time:
    Effects: Lowers anxiety, calming

    Chlordiazepoxide (Librium)
    Type: Benzodiazepine
    Dosage: 30-60mg
    Possible Harm:
    Time:
    Effects:

    Risperidone (Risperdal)
    Type: Anti-Psychotic
    Dosage:
    Possible Harm:
    Time:
    Effects:

    Chlorpromazine (Thorazine/Largactil)
    Type: Anti-Psychotic
    Dosage: 50mg
Possible Harm: Many unpleasant side effects, and may make trip worse in the long run. Use this only if others are in physical harm.
    Time:
    Effects:

    Trazodone (Desyrel)
    Type: Phenylpiperazine
    Dosage: 75-100mg
Possible Harm: Possible interaction with MAOI
    Time: 10 minutes
    Effects:

    Quetiapine (Seroquel/Ketipinor)
    Type: Anti-Psychotic
    Dosage: 1200mg
    Possible Harm:
    Time: 10 minutes
    Effects:

    Olanzapine (Zyprexa)
    Type: Anti-Psychotic
    Dosage: 2.5-7.5mg
    Possible Harm:
    Time: 30 minutes
    Effects: Ends your trip
    *Look at post #2

Check for allergies before using any of these medicines. An allergic reaction will make it a lot worse.

Being Bipolar Schizoaffective, I have, in my possession, a large array of the drugs described above, especially antipsychotics, mood-stabilizers, and benzodiazepines.

I only aborted a 'trip' once, and it wasn't to calm my ravingly scary hallucinations. I simply wanted to move on with my day and do some things that required a different mind-set. I found that a low dose of Zyprexa (olanzapine), a 2nd generation antipsychotic, worked perfectly. At low doses (ie: 2.5mg to 7.5mg), it doesn't cause the 'nasty' side effects known to antipsychotics. That is due to the fact that it doesn't begin to antagonize dopamine-type-two receptors until around the 10mg dose. At the low doses, however, it is a strong antagonist of the serotonin-type-two (both 2A and 2C) receptors. These receptors, when agonized (opposite of antagonist that is), give rise to the psychedelic experience (of course this is VERY simplified, but it takes a ten page academic journal to describe the full scope of the psychedelic experience neuropsychopharmacologically- long word!). The side effects of serotonin-two antagonization are minor and actually INCLUDE euphoria (it allows for heightened dopamine transmission in the prefrontal cortex...).

So, while most experts would say to use "A mild dose of Diazepam" (an often cited phrase), I think the second-generation antipsychotics are the best, IF used at the lower doses that don't work on Dopamine.

    I hope that makes sense.

How long did it take to kick in? I will be adding to that to the list shortly. Thanks.

Within 30 minutes, the 'trip' had faded to the point of feeling 'back to earth' again.

    etkearne,
What would be a decent dose of Risperidone equivalent to your Zyprexa dose before antagonizing dopamine receptors?

Ive never had to abort mid-trip, but often when i come down im really wired and cant sleep. Benzos are alright but often dont pack the punch to put me to sleep. My preference is to take some seroquel because it stops the action of the psychadelic and causes sedation. Works well for me :)

Seroquel has some potentially nasty side effects. I like to tug one out, go for a walk, smoke a j, listen to music, close eyes

btw 1200mg seroquel sounds like way too much. 200 works well for me

I would hate to have to abort a trip, if i was preparing for a psychedelic experience id defo be giving myself 24hr + for the body of the trip and contemplation etc etc though i respect a bad trip can be terrifying, that said would i fuck be wanting an anti psychotic, a benzo at the most but even that would be a real waste, like a previous poster said anti psychotic drugs can have real bad side effects and complications in individuals with certain blood types.
