It's nothing to do with drug culture, it's prohibition culture. If it's all freely safely legal, then that shit slowly leaves the scene.
This sucks. Does anyone know when this will pass? I want to get out there before hand... That is a bit of a brash statement, no? Some British people are fucking arseholes, granted, but MOST are good, honest people out for a good time. I feel sorry for you if you have only met the arse holes, but please don't tar us all with the same brush, that is an extremely narrow minded approach.
the thing i never understood about amsterdam people spend loads of money going there, just to smoke dope legally. that means they can smoke it in a coffee shop what's wrong with smoking weed at home? it seemed like the biggest waste of money.
Its not that expensive to get there from the UK. A train to London from where I live costs more than a flight / ferry to Amsterdam. Also, smoking where it is illegal = Less choice over strain / strength, more chance of legal retribution, more chance of tainted weed (we had a big problem with bud that had been sprayed with fibreglass to improve weight / profit - SO dangerous), less social acceptance, plus its nice to go and experience a more permissive society than our own.
i've been there, and i live in the uk - it cost, holiday and weed included, about 400 quid. and what of people who do not live in the uk or europe? for 'permissiveness', that is not worth the cost. just find a good dealer, get your choices, if you get busted it's not like they are going to lock you up. smoking weed is terrible moot, conviction wise.
Nothing, but people go to amsterdam because the quality in the UK is shit and it's nice to smoke it in a social environment with a beer, although you can't really do that in Amsterdam anymore since they outlawed premises from selling both alcohol and cannabis.
Having been caught a couple of times, I think they might be more inclined to throw the book at me next time. I have good sources, and am a lot more careful these days. But if it is so moot, then why not just legalise? What is the point having a law against something when you will do fuck all with those caught? Seems a bit stupid to me.
you're asking the wrong person. *also, around my way all they seem to do is confiscate weed, if anything.
a few places allowed smoking and drinking on site though, it was a minor loophole, i suppose. so long as they didn't sell both. i see what people are saying, it's not irrational, but i felt my money was wasted by traveling to amsterdam to simply smoke pot. i guess it's just a case of different strokes for different folks, after all i like to ski. go figure.
Can you please translate this into Canadian English? How many loonies and toonies would that be? Here, if you have 7 or less on your person, they either let you off, take it for themselves, or crush it up under their heel. An actual bust and court date is pretty uncommon. Though I've noticed lately that police presence is up, especially in well-known areas to buy weed. This is no doubt due wholly to our new majority Prime Monster.
That's true, but not Cafe 420 sadly it now only a coffeeshop. Is it legal in Switzerland, or something..?
it is, apparently, about 650 canadian dollars. that would be a pretty reserved budget, mind. i often spend more than that when away for about five days.
If you have a good supply then why not. I don't so that kind of limits me, if I want to go on holiday somewhere and enjoy a nice smoke while I am there. Kind of pisses me off that, I would like to maybe see other places. I went to helsinki 10 years ago for a weekend and it was nice, but I couldn't find anything to smoke while I was there, and that's REALLY annoying.
Both times I was caught, I was dragged down the station, strip searched, they then took all my details, including DNA, fingerprints, photos, the fucking lot. For 1 joint, not even a bag of green. I have never had it just confiscated. Snowboarding is one of the best things to do abroad for sure. But it is still nice to get a bit of variety in there...
I wish I'd gone to Spain 6 years ago instead of Holland actually. Holland is too many problem these days. Spain= better weather also and a language that is probably a lot easier to pick up. I am thinking about going there sometime in the next few years.
I've met a few Spanish people in Edinburgh, they like to come here for some reason. They are either extremely friendly or down right rude as fuck, same as every other people I guess.
