dok. whilst I agree with your arguments and your thinking is spot on in terms of ideology, you have a nack of being very offensive for a peace lover.
Your choice of words seems sometimes to be very agressive. Peace was never achieved by violence!
There is the notion of "righteous violence" - some biggoted things I see/read about/hear of can make me very angry indeed - even the guy who features in the teachings of the west the most (Jesus Christ) (woah... how bout that, I even gave him capitols - must be feeling less anti-religious today!) supposedly had an episode in the temple where he got all voilent.
But you use this violence too often for me to think that you are at peace with yourself...........

During which, by the way, we were by far the most dishonest opponent. The people we fought were with honour and culture and they had civilisation and architecture to shame us with. Really they should have won more of the battles than they did, but their code of honour wouldn't let tham stoop so low as we were prepared to go. We did some pretty callous things. We were the first people to think of catapulting the severed heads of our opponents over the city walls during a seige. We were the ones to think of taking captured prisoners to within sight of the city walls during a seige and slowly torture them to death - with no regard for the prisoners age or gender. We were low.

So, don't start with who started what, thats a crazy argument.

 

With the greatest of respect, this is a trifle over-simplistic and naive. Firstly, phrases such as "peace was never achieved through violence" might sound very wise, but are in fact simply empty and glib. I could equally say that "peace was never acheived by repeatedly banging your head against a wall". TrollHouse was never going to behave in a reasonable fashion here, despite our numerous attempts in the early days to enter into reasonable dialogue with him. I'm therefore quite happy to settle for expressing my disgust.

Your attitude is typical of one that I really dislike amongst hippies. You judge people for expressing strong opinions strongly. I think this is a cop-out. If something disgusts us, we have a right and a duty to express out contempt in the most vocal way possible.

I also think your use of the word "violence" is entirely fatuous. I have no desire to hit TrollHouse. Heated words are not violent actions.

I am, however, quite happy to accept that I'm offensive. Given that this is my stated ambition, I'd be a little disappointed if I was being anything else! TrollHouse offends me, and in turn, I set out to offend him. I consider it my duty to make it entriely clear how repugnant his behaviour is, and I don't think politeness cuts the mustard.

And a remarkably arrongant one. Also so entirely wide of the mark and factually incorrect that it certainly undermines the credibility of your argument. I think you'd have very great difficulty in finding anyone as at peace with themselves as me. After many years of questioning and learning, I've become entirely comfortable and happy with the person that I am. Whilst I don't regard myself as anywhere near perfect, I'm more than satisfied with the road that I'm travelling. Just because that road isn't the same as yours, don't be so ignorant as to assume that the scenery is less pleasing.

Again, with respect, it might be more constructive for you to consider your own failings. Is accusing a person of violence and a lack of personal ease any less offensive than calling a **** a ****? At least I have facts to back my argument (you might notice TrollHouse is now BANNED, by the way), whereas you seem simply to be speculating.

Sometimes the way people come accross on message boards is totally different than they way in which the message was meant. If I could see you speak these things in person then it would be totally different. But in the cold light of a message on a screen, thats how it came across to me.
NOT that I would use that to make a judgement about you. You don't have to justify your peacefullness to me! was just an observation.

I was just wondering what your thinking on all this is, on how acceptable/offensive your choice of words might be/might not be. I get pissed off when I am trying to have a debate with someone where instead of explanation and reasoning, insults are used. They do not further a debate, they turn it into an argument/slanging match. If you disagree - thats fine - were all entitled to our opinions, and in looking for enlightenment I want to listen to them all......
