I had my last set for almost 6 months before I decided to comb out. Before I started them, I was caught smoking weed. So when I finally cut them and packed away my skirts my parents thought I had finally changed. But I haven't. And I've really started missing them. I want to start a new set, is that a good idea? Thanks a bunch P.S. I graduate in a year but I don't really want to wait...should I though?
don't have much advice though i'd definitely say go for how you want to look if it makes you feel better. i find it funny how you say your parents think you've changed because you've changed your hair and clothes! did you actually stop smoking weed?
I'm also graduating next year, and the way I see it, it was now or never. So I did it I say go for it :2thumbsup:
If you just stop brushing it wont even look like dreads for awhile and you can get away with it, until you figure out how to deal with the parent situation.
ugh social conventions and parental expectations. just do iiiit !! i wasted years squeezing myself into the narrow box of what my parents wanted me to do/be like/behave. i was an outline. it took me too long to seize life for myself. if dreadies are what you want to express yourself, then they will be perfect!!
yeah man. when i first said i was gonna dread my hair, my friends and family strongly urged me not to. and for like a month they looked like shit. but i'm lucky in that my hair locks up quickly. they're still baby dreads, but they don't look like shit much anymore. i get compliments for random strangers, and even my mom said they look dank. so you gotta do you, and when you do, everyone will appreciate YOU more.
Hahaha! Awesome. To op--Be true to yourself and you will be respected for it (Assuming your true self is not a jackass )
