I was walking my dog, and I noticed some very vibrant, familiar looking orange flowers. I waited until it got dark out, and picked one of the bulbs, and took it inside. When I set it on my desk to examine it, what I could only describe as a white-yellow-milky substance oozed from where the bulb had been attached to the stem of the flower.

After looking at my bulb for a hour or so, I ever so gentility pricked the bulb with a x-acto knife. Instantly, the substance oozed from the small spot again.

I believe this may be the Papavaer Orientale. Out of hope that it would be the opium poppy, I tasted a little bit of the 'opium'. It tasted kind of bitter, and instantly reminded me of Oxycontin. My whole head seemed to light up, kind of like my brain was saying "I remember something like that!!!".

This taste makes me think that I got REALLY lucky- Every single other bulb was fuzzy, a clear trait of the Papavaer Orientale. The bulb I picked, is round, green, smooth, and has some hair-like things on top of it. It was literally the ONE different bulb out of all of them!

So, is it possible that this bulb contains opium? It looks very similar to the opium poppy, but its ever so slightly cone-shaped. I can upload a picture, if need be.

I would really love to hear some comments and discussion, I've always been fascinated by plants with such a large history, and would love to know that what I got is the real deal.
