I hate starting new threads but I can't find the place for my particular questions so here goes...
Firstly, this who have found God (in all his forms) how did you come upon this?
    What did it feel like?
Do you firmly believe in your experiences?

The reason I'm asking these questions is because I feel I'm going through a spiritual crisis. I've lived the vast majority of my 22 years as an agnostic/atheist, but I can't shake the spiritual tendencies I have. Recently, I've had questions about whether God exists and what I could do to become closer to this supreme being. I'm not keen towards religion, so pleasedont think I'm naming a specific god from a specific religion. Thank you.

Ha. I also know that the atheists will laugh at me for my questions and my thoughts... If we could keep those comments to a minimum, I would be much obliged. Thank you.

    Hi,

I'm an atheist and don't think you are silly for having these thoughts. "Spiritual" ideas are part of human nature, which is why they tend to take off in such a big way and be so difficult to view clearly and objectively.

I'm not about to dissaude you in your quest for insight. It is perfectly natural and sensible to ask believers why they believe and why they feel as they do. I just wanted to give a reminder to remain critical in your search, and to consider the possibility of looking at spiritual feelings from a scientific perspective as well as considering the views of those who claim to have found a god. This will enable you to put people's feelings on the issue into some kind of context other than "some people think there's god and some don't".

I also wanted to say that "spiritual" means different things to different people. I now avoid using the word because of this ambiguity, but I remain an open-minded, curious person who feels the world is full of magic and amazement, and I think that's what many people feel "spiritual" means. Sometimes you can happily fulfil your "spiritual" tendencies without any kind of supernatural belief.

Have fun on your search! People who think are always searching these areas.

Learn to heighten your awareness by giving up your ideas of right and wrong. Those Ideas, (of right and wrong), distort our perceptions of the true nature of the world. There are no good or bad rocks.

Learn instead to ask what a thing is for and whether it is the same or different.
Doing this you will begin to see what you look for.

The short answer to that is that you find Him within...but one must seek in order to find.

As usual, orison always makes me laugh...however, I would be willing to bet if you were ever going to really want to see GOD, it would be in that ^ situation.

Well I hate all the sarcastic answers. As I'd stated in the beginning, I would appreciate if there wasn't any sarcasm. Thank you. Well, maybe I didn't state that, but now I'm stating it.

You did already state that. Only you can find the answer you are looking for and we find only what we seek. I told you a way of looking that will tell you what you want to know. God is not lost, the one who doesn't know where to look is.

I can tell you that our own sorting of what is good or what is evil is meaningless and when you abandon the effort then you begin to see real value in what is true and can recognize what is false as undeserving of support.

this is the little i can say about my experience .

god is experienced in nature as an intersection of self
and otherness . a language is shared . the space of
existence is shared yet is not exclusive to 'within self' .
otherness speaks by causing motion in the space .
self observes . self converses by first understanding
what was spoken and then acting upon it . the human
action shall be wild and good , by faith , in harmlessness ,
    with no
    presumptive expectation of purpose .

why did i identify such an experience as one
    with god ?

I'd like to say that if you are on a quest for God, look within yourself, because that's where he is baby ;)

    you are god.

I found the Lord when I needed someone or something bigger than me or life that could help me get through my problems cause I was ready to give up on life and I found him, he walked in the room. I know that sounds crazy but all I can tell you is when I was praying I seen a man walk in that room even though I had my eyes shut its like I had them open and a feeling came over me that I can't explain and I'm a different person than I use to be.
