I had some Dawn power dissolver lying around, and I sprayed some of this stuff in my bowl that was really dirty. 15 mins later, my bowl looks like new. Highly recommended
Using a double boiler with alcohol always seems to do the trick real well for me. Not to mention also when the alcohol evaporates you have a nice smooth layer of resin
i agree my friend taught me how to clean my glass piece when i was a n00bie and he jsut sat it in a glass of rubbing alcohol overnight and by the next day it was as good as new.
I use Isoprophyl alchohol on a REAL Pipe Cleaner. You used to make stick figures with these in Kindergarten???? They do serve a real purpose. Cleaning Pipe stems and bowls.
I have a round glass bubbler with the stem at the top/side and the bowl up top. And I swear by RUBBING ALCOHOL + SALT. I bet that sand would work even better, but since I'm in Canada, sand can be a little hard to come by, especially in the winter months. The salt acts as the scrubber and the alcohol is the solvent, so you plug the holes with your fingers and give the bong a few vigorous shakes and it looks like brand new. Q-TIPS are good if you don't hive pipe cleaners.
If it has lots of resin and you just soak it in the alcohol, you should evaporate the alcohol afterwards... Nothing wrong with smoking some of ye olde resin!
you know, I've wondered about that.. using the resin after the alcohol dissolves. I used to leave it out in a tupperware container in the sun so it would evaporate fast. only concern is that when it got down to where it was almost evaporated, the colour changed from coffee-colored to muddy-coffee colored and I'd wonder how safe it was. It was also a biatch to scrape from the bottom, so I started leaving rolling papers along the bottom and using the oil residue papers for joints. and finally, now that I've started using salt as an abrasive additive for bong cleaning, I've thought about it and I'm afraid to use the resin because a percentage of the salt dissolves INTO the alcohol and would be left behind w/ the resin. Dunno how safe that is. I mean, it's like a density experiment when you store your dark rubbing alcohol in a bottle with the salt, which is a white layer at the bottom, but that' just left over from what the alcohol can't absorb (by the smell, it's still very salty). I mean, I could still pour the dark resin-rubbingalcohol out and leave the sand layer behind, but the resin would still have have salt when it dries. Maybe I'd be better to switch to sand if I want to use the resin?
I usually use solid ceramic tray and a razor blade. Nothin' like scraping the tray. That papers idea though, hmmnnnn.... might have to try that sometime.
The easiest way to clean a glass pipe is to heat a bowl of water in microwave for about 2 minutes, and that put your pipe in for about 15 minutes, resin slides right out. May need to be done a couple of times if extremely dirty. CAUTION: Do not heat water with pipe in it. The pipe can break... Peace, Jon
Should be okay, provided you rinse the bowl out with hot water afterwards to wash away any chemicals.
