My family's been doing it for about 8 or 9 years now... Now that we're all adults, and don't have to worry about shopping for kids atm, there's so many of us that Secret Santa is much easier to do. We usually all see each other @ my pumpkin carving party at Halloween (both of my uncles and their partners, my parents, grandmother, brother, my hubby and I) and we each draw someone's name, and that's the person we shop for that Christmas. When we see each other @ Christmas eve, we open our gifts and try to guess who shopped for us... it's pretty fun...
yrs ago I went christmas shopping for all the new mom's in the maternity ward at the hospital where I was working. I've also picked a few names off a stores "Angel tree"
that's so wonderful my husband and I did that last year... there was a store that did something similar to that Angel Tree... you picked a name, and you got a kid's age and whether they were a boy or girl, and you bought that kid a gift, which was donated through the store... we picked 3 names and shopped for them... Ah, charity is a nice warm fuzzy feeling...
not in my family but at work we do...ergh another thing I have to have done by tommorow. I like the persons name who i drew though so it will be fun. Secret gifts annoy me though yesterday on the front desk was a box with my name on it and chocolate and it just had a card that said thanks lynsey it was sweet but I want to know which parent it was it's bugging me
We used to do that a bit, in my group of friends. But now we're all uni students, some are getting married, and no one has money. Sooo now we have a big party, and everyone brings a snack and we just have a good time.
sob I don't have a date for my christmas party and unless we're same sex partners we can't bring a same sex friend
our non profit is lacking on funds so you can't bring a non-date. I am one of two people going alone ):
it's not that I can't find a date it's just that the person i want to go with lives in a far far away land ):
I will it's at a super casual place and they have fire pits in the middle of the tables so it will be fun
my brothers and I have done that for years.... its alot easier to shop for one person than to shop for 4. plus, its gotten bigger over the years too, with my brother's wife and another brother's fiancee, and another brother's girlfriend, so we all just do a drawing. we dont really guess who it is from though....
In my family, we kind-of play secret santa - after we all wake up from our drunken black-outs we all try to guess who punched the new hole in the wall.
No, I don't do that. My family did years ago, until they realized how ridiculous it was. The presents you're likely to get from your "Secret Santa" isn't worth the time and effort of having to be a Secret Santa yourself. In the long run it's best to buy for whoever you want to buy for, not because you have to buy for them out of obligation.
