Isn't it too bad you did not watch some educational TV as a youngster? You might have learned how to spell. I feel sorry for you the first time you have to fill out a job application. :(

I agree. Ever sit through an hour of American Idol?

I get one channel with an antenna. I watch CD or VHS movies most of the time. If I lived without grid power and it was TV or computer+lights I would go with my computer.

I do like RetroTV. Shows like Leave it To Beaver, Adam 12, EMERGENCY, MASH, The Unit, Seinfeld. Stuff like that.

Why watch on TV the human trash that I won't even dare allow in my home?
Watching TV is doing the same thing, just without the blood and body odor.

Uhm, blood and body odor sounds like a good reason to watch them on tv instead of looking them up irl :D I'm not sure if you're talking about shitty 'reality tv' but over here we have lots of docu's on tv that can give great insight.

I, on the other hand, feel sorry for you, as you're seemingly so literal minded, you're unable to tell when someone's having a joke.

Anyway, Coronation Street's my favourite programme. Fuck that eastenders shit though.

why hate on tv? do you have something against being entertained? oooh read a book big man, and just try and keep away the nagging thought in your mind about how much better tv usually is.

you can't label tv as garbage, because it obviously exists to fit a demand of the people. get off your high horse and get down on the remote control.

I only watch tv on two occasions,
    1. I'm with my girlfriend (she's an addict)
    2. I'm on mescaline. (I love cartoons when I'm on mescaline, it takes me back to my childhood, but I've only done it once so I'm sure my second trip will be different)

I never really liked TV, I think it's so boring to sit down in front of a box (hence why I usually call it "idiot box") for hours. My parents are absolute TV junkies and they were always begging me to join them, but I was like "no thanks, I got better things to do". It's so time consuming too! It's insane, watching show after show and the first thing you know is that the evening is over and it's time to go to bed.

Since I moved out on my own 12 years ago I never owned a TV and never felt the need to get one either. I like the fact my place feels calm without it and my mind doesn't get polluted with all kind of junk. I'm not bored at all, I got plenty of things to keep me occupied. I prefer to read a book, listen to music, surf the net, take care of my plants, paint, play with my cat and dog, do photography, go to my ninjitsu and dance classes, meet up with my friends, do some biking or yoga... than watching the god damn idiot box!

I have been living in a van for three months, and in that time, I find that the time I would normally spend watching TV is now spent doing all the things I wanted to do, but didn't have time for, like reading a book, going for a walk, or playing a board game.

I quite enjoy watching documentaries or getting a season of a TV show at the video store, but I can do that on a laptop without the ads. It's the ads that really get to you without your noticing.

I haven't had a tv for years. It's too hard for me to sit down and try to watch that thing. I know there are some cool things like national geographic and related programs that I might enjoy but the internet provides any of that stuff if I want to watch it.

Damn thing is too much of an electronic pacifier, too many agendas slipped in to rob my ability to think clearly. Books are good as are magazines. Plus the oportunity always exists to get out in real life and have your own adventure instead of being amused by others.

Yeah I watch tv. I have noticed that on the days that I don't everything just seems a little bit brighter and happier.

I never had a TV as a child, and when I went to college my flatmates would all spend most of their time clustered around it like zombies mindlessly consuming trash. I never really saw the point, it was just too passive. Even something like a video game requires a certain amount of interaction!
There are only 4 TV channels (with one of them in Gaelic!) here in Ireland too, so we never got any of the interesting national geographic type programmes.

I mostly watch shows on Netflix or Hulu. That way I can skip the commercials. I think that there's actually quite a bit of really high quality TV these days--better than most movies, actually. But if it's being creative vs. watching TV, then being creative is WAY better for the brain.
