Is it true if you die in a dream you die in real life?

Ok.. So I have heard that if you die in a dream, you would die in real life


I have heard that because the moment is so intense that your heart could stop or something that happens, can't really remember .. like when you are about to die.. you always wake up .. which makes sense because it seems i have been in bad positions in a dream but i somehow wake up to it .. as a nightmare ..

but then when i said i heard this, a kid i was talking to said to me .. that's no true i've died in dreams before.. but how can you prove you'll die in real life if you die in a dream .. because u'll be dead? and that kinda stumped me .. so i'm not really sure which one is true if any is ..

It isn't true. It's an urban legend.
Granted, most people don't "die" in their dreams, most people will awake at that point. But in the event that you don't, the dream will just take some transitional approach and dream life will go on. The brain has no conception of death, it can't dream about it.

 

There is a myth that if/when one falls in a dream, and lands they will die... only that is only a myth. I've never even heard of what you've spoken...I'm like that kid.

I've died and seen death, too, in more than one dream. Seeing death is worse.

But either way...that dream ain't gonna be what will take you.

Hah tikoo! Each time I've dreamed I've fallen and landed, it was ALWAYS slow, slow, slow going down....and always a soft landing.
Each time I've done this I always walked away with wonderment in the dream...thinking, now that wasn't so bad!

I have been BRUTALLY fucking murdered in my dreams the most fucked up thing u can think of. Sooo no.

 

Oh my FD!

I've dreamed I died, but never that ^ ...being brutally murdered. That would have to be bad; and I've "seen" brutal but quick murders in dreams and that is so awful that it will occasionally "surface" in my conscious thought.
Hard to have a good day after that mess gets to bubbling up.

 

Yeah, I've killed lots of people in my dreams but damned if they don't remain standing when I wake up.

This is a question that is impossible to answer...

Even if some people have dreamed their death (by whatever means) and didn't die... all that proves is that not all people die from it.

As we can't possibly know if everyone has 'death dreams' that they survive (especially seems some claim they don't), and we can't ask people who died in their sleep if they dreamt it... we can't know either way for sure...

I was eaten by a family of raptors in my dreams once so no i woke up when i seen the light...Really crazy one...And yes i did get a dream of dinosaurs...I wanted a long neck one but whatever...It was super crazy

 

I've had a dream where I died, and I was so happy, I saw people floating around and I came to a wall but I couldn't pass because it was for the living so everyone who died was floating in this weird existence and there was money growing on trees and I saw my family there and everyone wasn't see through but kind of shimmery it was a trip =S

 

In real life people die too irrespective of any dream
