    Hi!
I'm looking to get rid of some fat here and there..
I've been struggling with eating disorders, but I still want to lose weight, but I don't want to lose it so drastically and I want to do it healthy.
I have a very feminine, curvy body, hour-glass shaped, that I am very proud of, but it has a little too much fat, which, in my opinion, makes the shape of my body less visible, and just makes me look pretty chubby.
I'm not looking to lose much weight, or lose my body shape.
I just want to lose some fat on my legs, thighs, ass and stomach.
Is this possible, and if so, does anyone have any exercise tips, or tips on what to eat etc?
I'm doing my best to drink plenty of water, and never go anywhere without a bottle of it.
I danced for about 7 years, but am now taking 6 months off, and thus have no other forms of exercise than gym class at school, which isn't my cup of tea.
So.. what I'm trying to say is: any tips would be greatly appreciated.

pilates! go to your local YMCA and ask someone about taking a class...or if you can't drop the money for the class, i recommend winsor pilates (a workout tape). doing it by a tape isn't the best way, but this is the best tape i have ever done as far as pilates goes. i myself am too poor for a gym membership or to take a class, and being as young as you are, i'm sure you don't have a lot of extra money to drop, either. pilates is a great form of exercise that requires little to no equipment. i warn you though, it's not easy. it looks easy, but it'll make you sore the first few times you do it. but if you stick to it, you will find it rewarding.

if you have been struggling with eating disorders, i would recommend getting some therapy...just having an unbiased person to talk to can really help. it can help you resolve a lot of the emotional issues which surround your eating habits and help you get back into a normal way of eating. good luck with everything and much love :)

I actually wouldn't worry about your diet in this case for weight loss. Just try to eat a healthy balanced diet. Up the excerise though. I'm not talking about doing 2000 cruches and running 5 miles a day. Just walk more if you can and try to find active forms of entertainment. Try some frisbee or hacking with your friends insted of TV or movies all the time. Maybe join a martial arts class, it will get you into good shape and teach you to defend yourself if you have to. The trick is to just take it slow. Don't expect overnight success. For healthy and perement weight loss it takes time. I read that it takes at least 2 weeks to begin to show even slight signs of physical improvement and usually six weeks for there to be a very noticeable change. Taking a weekly picture of yourself can help you to see the changes. Try week one vs. week 12 and you should see some huge changes. You really should talk to a doctor about this because they are usually really knowledgeable about how to start a healthy change in your life. Just don't get discourged. Fitness is a long term commitment.

Get heaps of sleep too. The more sleep you have, the less you crave sugar, salt and starchy foods. Its true, i get up after having about 10ish hours sleep and im never really hungry. And apparently your metabolisim is faster when your sleeping.

I know that drinking green tea, or taking a supplement of it, will boost your metabolism. Try doing your workout in the morning, because you can burn more calories. Keep drinking lots of water! :) For working out, try doing Tae-Bo, and pilates. You can do this! Eat lots of colorful foods, the more the better. Make working out fun, find something you like: biking, walking the dog, tae-bo!

I don't exactly feel comfortable giving people advice who start the conversation with I've been struggling with eating disorders. I really wouldn't want to contribute to an unhealthy lifestyle. I have no idea what you look like or what type of eating disorder you are dealing with.

What I can tell you, if you are serious about loving the curves of your body and you really do want to tone, that is great. It is important to live a healthy lifestyle, which includes proper diet and ample exercise. Just so you know, there is no way to spot reduce fat from any particular area. Contrary to what people believe, you can't just work your abs and have them flat all of a sudden. The only way to lose fat is to do cardio. I suggest doing 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. The only other way I know of to tone is to use resistance. Usually it is in the form of weight training, or you can use your own body weight (such as push ups, lunges) or using weights. For a beginner I suggest investing in at least one session with a personal trainer so they can stand there and physically show you how an exercise is done, so you do not run the risk of doing something wrong and hurting yourself. After one or two sessions, you probably won't need them except for once every 2 or 3 months to change your routine. Other than that, check out the exercises I have posted. :) Good luck on your journey. But remember to keep your mind and emotions as healthy as you keep your body.

I almost forgot... Depending on what your diet consists of now, you might consider modifying it. Basically I would cut out all fast food and soda, and anything fried. Watch your portions, by reading labels. A lean cut of meat is the size of a deck of cards or the palm of your hand. Measure when you can, you would be surprised at what a serving actually consists of. Make sure you get enough fiber. You need between 25-30grams per day! Remember fresh fruit and veggies are excellent for that. Don't be too restrictive though. Your body needs calories in order to work. I'd at least keep it around 2000calories, depending on your weight. I eat about 2500 calories a day because of my activity level. Oh yeah. DON'T SKIP BREAKFAST!!!

Exercise is a necessity for everyone. 'nuff said?

Diet is very important! "Garbage in, Garbage out."

You don't have to make this complex. Just eat only whole, natural, organic (when possible) food, and as much as you want. More protein, less carbs, no simple carbs.

The key is balance, and to completely eliminate all processed foods, especially refined sugar, and flour/baked products. Don't buy restaurant food, canned food or frozen food. Eat a lot of vegetables, few to no fruits, and keep carbs in general low. And perhaps most important; DON'T SNACK! Eat separate meals, and never eat unless you are actually hungry.

Breakfast should be small, easy to digest and eaten shortly after rising. If you don't eat in your first waking hour it slows your metabolism for the day. Perhaps a handful of soaked almonds....

and get an hour of exercise every day. :)

    love

I disagree with anyone who says not to snack. Mid afternoon (a few hours before lunch with quite a bit of time left to go before diner) your blood sugar may drop. If so, then it is perfectly normal to have a snack. Fresh vegetables dipped in a bit of salad dressing, some fruit (berries are very low in natural sugar), a piece of cheese or even a hard boiled egg. If you are hungry, by all means, have a light snack.

I agree with the elmination of processed foods. No one needs hydrogenated oils to clog up their arteries. Carbohydrates are an important source of energy. They should not be eliminated completely. Replace white flour with whole grains.
