Molecules move in a random direction. If one would have a measurement device that registers the direction and speed of a particle, one could calculate where it is heading for. So in fact, people can predict what things are going to do.
Humans are also made out of molecules. Through countless of collisions, we formed and evolved out of those molecules. They are still molecules that move in a direction that can be registered and we could predict where it's heading. Though people don't work that way. We have a free will and we can do whatever we want. How is this possible?
Well, maybe free will isn't free at all. Maybe past, present and future have already happened. Maybe your brains are creating an illusion that feels like it's not. Maybe time is an illusion created by your brains, and your consciousness is just trapped inside that illusion. There's nothing you can do about it, everything you will do is not free will. It was already meant to happen. Like a few religions say: ''it is written''.
In the end, we are all just victims of coincidence.

    basically a re-post from before:

Determinism depends on the false assumption that the universe is absolutely 100% perfect. In fact there is evidence all around us that suggests the universe is NOT perfect. Evolution itself requires imperfections as a key mechanism. Imperfection lends itself to truly random events. If determinism is false, as it must be, then free will does exist.
