LSD & Alcohol

Besides a few varying trip reports of this combo from erowid, does anyone here have direct experience of what it is like? I don't like mixing things with my trips, but alcohol clears my mind in a way and i'm wondering what it may be like dropping while intoxicated

Its alright. I prefer drinking nice beer during and on the come down. But for me being intoxicated while dropping can deteriorate from the experience, also depending on how drunk you really are. There's only one way to find out.

 

It's ok, I wouldn't recommend it. They both take you in opposite directions, alcohol shuts down the mind and increases ego, LSD awakens the mind and reduces ego. A few beers on the come down is nice, but I would never get wasted while tripping.

Not that a few beers or even some stronger stuff like vodka will make shit bad, but try not to exagerate, it's just not worth it.

On a note, a friend of mine had a bad trip once while mixing LSD + Alcohol, had to take care of him for 3 hours, he was extremily paranoid, vomiting and according to him the next day was the worst hangover on his whole life.

 

I agree with the above comments...some good craft beers during (and especially on the comedown) is a nice move, but taking while drunk is probably not...I really have never had a "bad" trip, but the one time I drunkenly dosed certainly wasn't my favorite. Ha it sounded a whole lot better when I was intoxicated, but come 4 or 5 in the morning I wasn't diggin it. On the other hand, who knows?

 

Any of my personal experiences with LSD and alcohol, whether I was the one taking it or around others mixing them, usually had one outcome...violence.
I recommend against it, except for maybe a beer or two for the landing to settle the "jitters" if you are prone to them with LSD.

 

I've drank beers on the comedown, a decent amount even, and didn't feel a thing. We took some shots too. Definitely enough to get me drunk but the only thing I felt were the waning effects of the LSD. It may have helped me sleep though, that was one of the better sleeps I've had after tripping. Either way I definitely enjoy a good beer for the comedown.

 

One thing that hasn't been pointed out yet, if your the type that has bladder issues with alcohol it's gonna get really annoying while on lucy. Especially if you have lots of beers. On the other hand, drinking beers can be very fun especially as you are coming up.

But don't overdo it or you may cancel the trip. Alcohol is actually a cousin of valium, xanax, and other benzos. So it can be reasoned that a sufficient dose of alcohol will cancel the trip. Might be good if your having a bad trip you can't escape to drink a little. I doubt it can completely cancel the trip though, for me at least the cid will over power it. Well actually it depends on the dose. 5 hits or more; even if you have a few beers before coming up, the cid will overpower it. In some ways it can make it feel trippier, even exaggerate the "death" feeling of the ego death. Depending on your imagination you can imagine all sort of interesting ideas and landscapes (alcohol doesn't intoxicate me as much as many of my friends or family, so maybe that's why I able to remain more aware and not dumbed down).

But in all honesty acid + weed is a much better combo. I don't know about you guy been when I smoke some weed during an acid peak, and especially if it' a strong sativa, it turns it into double tripping. If I had a min. of 5 hits and havn't had ego death yet, it will come then. The visuals will become a lot more real and you will be able to imagine dreamier landscapes than you have never imagined before. And it will become hard to move too. Anxiety can build up, and if the sativa weed knocked your acid trip into the ether and you feel it's too much, a couple beers or a few shots of liquor isn't too bad.

But personally I like drinking after a trip. A few beers after a long trip really takes the tension off. Better to drink after the trip imo, as Writer pointed out too. But it can be fun to drink while tripping too, especially if you haven't tried the combo before, and if you have a shitload of people around that you don't know it might be even a little helpful to ease the anxiety. And you don't have to just go with vodka. Rum can taste amazing when your tripping, as oppose to the lack of taste in vodka.

LSD is one of the things that inspired me to stop drinking. I was an accomplished binge drinker, now I'm totally dry.

 

I seem to be in the minority here, but, I suggest not polluting L, at least not until the slide into afterglow. I can see experimenting with combos of other quality psyches like shrooms or mesc with L, but alcohol and other polar opposites? Disrespectful of Lucy, if I may say so.

And like Dorset above said... some nice craft beers. I enjoy a few of them on the return to baseline quite often. Makes for a softer re-entry.

that's pretty much what everyone else said. you must enjoy being a minority haha

if you drop when you are already drunk, it will take away from the psychedelic effects.

have a few beers on the comedown if you want.

Well I really seem to be on the minority here but I really enjoy drinking and dosing, beers just taste awesome. But it really depends on the circumstances, I enjoy tripping without booze also. A little bit of weed is critical, I find it really brings out the colors and patterns. But dropping acid when your totally shitface is pretty much a waste although a good way to keep a party going:devil:

me n me mates would have a few beers after we dose... for the comeup. cause thats one the scariest parts, not knowing whats gonna happen, waiting for it to kick in, not knowing if this trip ur gonna loose ur head forever! so a couple then went fine.


i remember i was at Infected mushroom concert on a couple hits of awesome acid straight from the vial, and trippin like fuck, gave my wallet to a mate to get me drinks cause i didnt have a clue what was happening, i ended up having 2 orr 3 double blacks, and each one totaly shifted the trip. not sure if it was good or bad. it actually kinda felt like it made it more intense. was a wild night.
