I'm not trying to be an asshole, this is really just a simple question. Does it ever bother you that a lot of New Age beliefs are based on pseudo-scientific or even unscientific practices? Theosophy's dependence on Goethean "science" is probably the best example I can give.

Religion as a whole is based on unscientific practices... That's what defines a belief system, generally. So no, it doesn't bother me at all.

Christianity bothers me more than this. Nature makes more sense than a random idea of what god should be. Nature heals and hurts, and we can at least understand that, yes? I did a course on psychology this summer, and yes, it isn't scientific, but I don't think i could face a future with no beliefs at all, it's been very rough just looking into afterlife and seeing void, nothingness. So. Your stance?

The same lack of scientific rigor may just as easily invalidate such life-enhancing "things" as Rock and Roll, Laughter, Play, Sex, Love, Humor, Inspiration and Language, just to name a few.

Would it bother you if we refused to accept the existence of these things because they are "unscientific"?

Well, as someone pursuing the study of herbalism both from a practical (medicinal) point as well as from a metaphysical/spiritual perspective, I'd have to say that I take it quite seriously. There are many things we humans still don't know as 'hard fact' but happen none the less. Why not explore them and record what we find. In essence I believe that is technique of science. I'd also have to admit though, to meeting a few flakes along the way. No harm done though.

Beliefs are problems no matter what their genus.
    Beliefs are based upon assumptions.

Assumptions bear no testimony to facts.
It is cause for great concern that the greater part of the world's population chooses belief over fact.

Beliefs make me a bit suspicious when they are accompanied by quite pseudo-stuff as charts, a mountain of esoteric terms, "mystical diagrams". If you have to use a five-hundred page book to explain a belief, then you've overwritten the thing by about 450 pages lol.....
