I vote Democrat because its the lesser of the two evils. Actually we dont have elections here anymore, we have auctions. The job goes to the highest bidder, the one who has the most financing for his campain. Most of that comes from coroporations.

I have to disagree. while liberal ideology is much less offensive to me than the apocalyptic conservative view, the 'democrats' are much more devious about using the sense of justice and ethics of the voters to manipulate them into providing power and resouces to their corrupted agenda

and just in case anyone is unclear, the 'democratic party' should never be mistaken for "liberal" they are "moderate" at best

Sorry about that, but I really REALLY hate them all simply because they don't give half a fuck about their jobs and the people's needs. Rather they see it like we do in the lower economic classes as a stronger and more freedom based lifestyle towards the pursuit of Personal happiness. For them, running things with at least a bit of political sacrifice is simply too much and, oh dear, too hard.

Instead of "God Bless America", it should read "Bow Now Weaklings at the Awesome Might, Power, and Control of your Lobbyist Overloads!"

Democrats are not nice about manipulating people, but republicans are much worse, as follows:

Just about everyone is liberal.

Now, there are fiscally conservative liberals, and there are fiscally liberal liberals, and there are fiscally IRRESPONSIBLE liberals, and all of those are different classes. But they should all still be able to vote and act under a liberal umbrella to get things done.

Then there's conservatives: they want to force their MORALLY conservative, religious values and views onto everyone else, by means of government or anything else they have to use. They also will do anything to make money and get power. BUT they have guns, abortion, and gay marriage on their side.

Guns, abortion, and gay marriage have been used to divide people.

Instead of us being able to band together and get things fixed for everyone, this little group of evil people has used these three issues to build a whole half of the political game around themselves.

I'm liberal, and I support gun ownership. If you don't want an abortion...... well I support your right not to get one, just like I support the right TO get one for those who do. If you're gay and want to get married..... this will sound cold, but for the sake of political unity, I don't give a FUCK about your marriage. Maybe marriage is between a man and a woman, after all it IS (in it's current LEGAL form) a concept taken from a religion that considers you a hell-bound heathen. Why can't we make marriage a religious thing, and let PEOPLE get legal civil unions? Then you can either be married but have no legal union, or have a union but no marriage, or both. We'd all win, and have more options.

There's just so many easy ways to work it out. But the republicans and fox news make it sound impossible for all these people to swallow these little differences to come to the NOT evil side. I'm willing to put up with THEM, they need to put up with me, or it will cause our mutual destruction.



Seriously: most people are liberal, just talk to them. People who think they're conservatives have one or two wedge issues that they care about, and that's it.

Note that in the political sense, "conservative" does not mean you personally are conservative. That's fine, conserve all you want! In the political sense, it means that you live in excess and think that everyone ELSE should be conservative while supporting your lifestyle. And that you have a fascistic fear of people feeling good.

As broony says there is a lot of anger on display here but anger needs to be focused and directed, and that not what I’m getting.

There is a lot of hostility toward ‘politicians’ that they work for themselves not for the people. But I’ve meet a lot of political activists from all sides of the political spectrum and virtually all of them were genuinely dedicated to doing what they thought was right for the people (even if I totally disagreed with them on that).

And although the people might not realise it those who post on this forum are also politicians, by just discussing politics we are actively engaged in politics, we are politicians.

So I’d ask you what is it abound the US political system that turns people like you into the figures of hate that you often rile against here?

 

Democrats have been traditionally the party of progressive politics. Yes on womens rights,yes on social security,yes on labor laws such as keeping young children from working in sweatshops,yes on overtime over 40 hours,yes on raising the minimum wage,yes on civil rights,yes on regulations to curb the excesses of rampant capitalism(the failed results of which we're seeing now),yes on environmental laws,yes on all types of safety laws for workers and other issues that benefit the classes that do/have done the actual work that kept this country going,wether one agrees with capitalism or not. These issues are issues that conservatives have always voted against. And still do. Now ---the Democrats have just about given up what used to be ,in my opinion,the moral high ground, because they get their millions from the same people that fund the conservatives to get and stay elected. In my opinion,they should have and still should come out with the radical changes this country needs --thru progressive ideas such as single payer medical for all,free education that would allow any and all citizens to attain the highest possible level of such that ,in the end, would not only result in the probable fruition of untold ideas--inventions--theories ,that now have no possibility of happening and the nurturing of CRITICAL thinking which is sorely needed in the world at present.

Money OUT of the election process is perhaps the most important issue that needs addressed immediately. Additional political parties should be a priority also--the ones we have -have allowed this country to become an out and out oligarchy to OUR detriment. So yes--the democratic party has moved to the right and disappoints me greatly. They should push progressive ideas as hard as they can and let the chips fall as they will--not test the political winds and give in and say whatever will get them elected as the conservatives do. An ignorant populace is a compliant populace.

I have deep roots in this country and many more ideas on what should be done to heal it--most of which I have expressed on this site over the last 12 years. I love the ideals on which this country was founded----but I'm sick of them being usurped little by little by weak kneed ,chickenshit bastards that care little for any of "we,the people"--only the riches they can gain by any and all methods possible -----FROM US. The shit needs to come down--and it needs to come down hard.

we haven't evolved much biologically from ancient romans
we evolve socially and failure to correct these blatant and systematic flaws hinders our social evolution

of courss, there's plenty of resources to progress technologically, artistically, economically, etc

I can't define myself politically, I'm a flaming liberal progressive idealist

society has a lot to learn from smart people and not much to learn from ignorant capitalist proponents of pollution and exploitatiin

STILL I think the first priority should be school funding because it's a SERIOUS social injustice that CHILDREN are given educations valued on prooerty taxes

I don't even have kids, it just seems like a big deal
