With basic needs covered and a $100 a month budget, would you work?

Say you have a decent living arrangement. Not a whole house but a decent apartment, somewhere in a small city.

It's paid for, which includes heating, warm water and electricity.

You also have a working stove and fridge.

Your food is paid for, but consider the basic necessities, something along the lines of bags of potatoes, pasta, cheese ( sparingly ), meat ( mostly pork, cheaper ) with the daily recommendation of fruit and veggies.

Internet and tv is not included but you receive $100 a month to do with it what you will.

Considering inflation, your living arrangement will be maintained until you die, your monthly budget will also increase slightly per inflation every year, so say after 10 years your monthly budget is $160 or something.

You can take this offer and never have to work.

    OR.

You can leave it behind and pursue a job, where you will have to fend for yourself.

I don't give a fuck about a career 0r "persuing a better life", but I had to vote for the job coz $100 a month wouldn't pay for my beer.

i'd take it... if it were a little cabin in the middle of the woods instead of an apartment in a city.

I'd take it, assuming I could always ditch it for work.

I could be happy for a long time, but eventually circumstances change.... plus, 100 bucks isn't much, choosing between internet and pot wouldn't work for me.

Free time+pot=free time X free time.

Over time with the 100$ you could eventually start growing your own pot, while still being able to afford the internet.

I think the situation in my OP is FAR better than Welfare.

By decent living arrangement I mean a clean apartment, in a good neighborhood.

And basic food necessities would also be better than Welfare, people on Welfare tend to live off crap, pardon my french.

I know I said bag of potatoes but consider in my OP you'd be getting your fruits and veggies, and your meat.

Plus welfare is mostly for single mothers or poor families, not for single people who don't want to work.

The $100 grows with inflation, but even still I think if you saved for 6 months you could get nice things.

$600 bones could get you a decent used tv, game system and movies off of a website like kajiji.

And for you internet junkies, most public libraries would handle your needs. I personally know of guys living on nothing who get their internet from libraries or other people's homes and watch HD television at a bar.

Let me break it down for you, say you want to watch sports in HD about 4 times a week. Go to your local bar and get the minimum cheap bottle of beer, if you go with friends who are willing to spend you can easily get a whole game in for one $4 beer.

Hell, it all goes back to friends. I think there's a fine line between a leach and just a broke friend. A leach is someone who mooches off of your paid goods, like food, car and utilities.

    Example:

    Mooch

Asks to "borrow" your george foreman grill

    Broke Friend
Asks to borrow one of your games that you haven't played in a year

Again, I personally know of people who's "fun" money is no more than $100 a month and they are perfectly fine.

I can drop a hundred bucks in one trip to the thrift store if I'm not careful, so NO WWAY is that ever gonna be enough.

I'm the kind of guy who would rather bust my ass 240 hours in one month and have about a thousand to spend on whatever I want while I only work 160 the next month.

Any jackass can move a bag of rocks from one place to another. Whoever can find indefinite satisfaction from adequate resources does not tend to pollute.

I'd do neither option of the poll.

I'd take the option and do part time work and work I enjoyed.
