Maybe you bagged yourself a posh rich boy :D Not all of them are like that. The best people are like, a wee bit below the stupidly rich :) So they're educated enough to not have some weird shitty accent and not snobbish enough to be weird shitty people......with a shitty accent :D

And either way, we find what Americans do weird. It's just how our countries are!

Although the snobby voice thing, that's an England thing. Us Welsh, and the Scottish and Irish are all celtic and thus funny duddy sounding.

Heh, sorry, I love generalizing the English- whether it's true or not!

But the old sheep thing, eh? As they say, we shag 'em, you eat 'em :p

Heh, Prince of Wales he may be he is not one of us. He is an obvious example of the English and Germans misgivings with elephants though, yes :p

I think Americans and English/UK ppl differ quite alot really.

IMO Americans seem to be quite vocal about their feelings and straight to the point where as us English skirt around what we want to say for fear of saying the wrong thing and embassing ourselves.
Im not saying everyone is like that over here though but I think you may have picked one!

I wish MORE ppl in Eng/UK were like you over there as life would be much easier if we just said what we thought instead of being scared to tell our true feelings.

Also tell him to have a word with his parents about them making comments cuz its upsetting you.
Its probably just because they care and may not even realise they are doing it.My mum was the same always telling me what I should do with my daughter, shes 9 now and shes still on my case! I would'nt say she is snobby though just very protective and a worrier. :)
Let it go in one ear and straight out the other!!

Actually you'll discover that just as many Irish invaded the rest of the British Isles historically, so we're all a little celtic to some extent, or dane, saxon, norman, jute, roman, etc, etc. Just like the population of gool ol' usa- world is a melting pot-just ignorant fools dont know their history and George Washington was the biggest traitor that ever lived. Used the crown for ships, logistics, finance, crews, land and everything else then refused to pay.
    :>))

Answer the shoe question with something truthful, such as "They are perfectly happy without shoes and I don't want their feet to be twisted out of shape because I forced them in shoes all their growing lives, which yours probably are."

As for not understanding him, that's your problem, not his. Become more perceptive and if he's doing it on purpose then tell him to grow the fuck up, don't let yourself become a victim to someone else's petty little games. The same goes for his parents, give them rational, truthful responses (such as you eat enough to survive and remain healthy and you don't want you or your kids to be fat) and if they can't accept that then tell them to go and educate themselves and return to you as adults, rather than nit-picking, small-minded children. Explain that the conflict they are bringing is damaging the children's development, is that really what they want? And to cover all the bases, try your best to understand their criticisms, rectifying your mistakes in areas where you might be wrong and seeking their input and advice if they continue to criticise. If they can't back up their criticism with reasonable evidence then they are full of shit and it is your duty as a fellow human to tell them this. Overall, make sure they understand that their arrogant behaviour will most likely result in harm to the children, one way or another. STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!!

Oh, and the reason they are weird is because you choose to view them that way. Or because you allow them to be that way around you.

we were having this conversation somewhere the other day on the boards, i'm unsure of the british isles being invaded by the irish

i mean, the welsh and irish come, from what we've gathered, the same place. so it wouldn't change the linage too much.

i am not sure if you're still with us, however, due to a low post count.
