    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone believed in past lives. I feel that I've lived before and every life you have you have to learn something before you can go on to the next life. I feel the people you are deeply connected to were also around in your past life.

Can you carry trauma from your past life into your present? I only ask this because I get cold alot even if its a hot day. I love the snow, and the water and the forest. I came across the Titanic in the 6th grade before any movie with Leonard Decaprio ever came out and I was fascinated by it.

I've had deja vu when travelling to Virgina and seeing plantation homes. I've never traveled to somewhere where I actually felt at home, and I cried when I left because I didn't want to return back to Southern California where I live.

Does anyone have any "TRUE" insight on these matters? I would love to read your responses.

    Thanks.

i don't believe in reincarnation, not the tedious linier life after life after life version, anyway. i prefer the parallel timeline theory wherein all the lives manifesting from any given vibration manifest simultaneously on other timelines. when one has a "past life" memory or feels they've had past lives it's because now and then the timelines bleedthrough or overlap (like deja vu) and we get a glimpse of or a sensation from our parallel selves.

    just an interesting idea.

Once medicine advances to a point of which people are living longer, there will inevitably be more people. Once the number of people alive surpasses the total amount of humans dead (100 billion or so) then reincarnation will be officially Swiss cheese.

The well can't pull a soul into a new body if there are no souls to pick from. It would be nice though.

My insight is true only for me I suspect. I am "home" on the Amazon River, home in the jungles there. I have always been drawn to that place in the world. I cry when I leave there, now some 25 trips over the years. I love the people who live there, have been taken in to a family and am part of it. From when I was a little boy and looked at pictures of people from the Amazon I felt a kinship. I knew I belonged there too. Who knows what thats all about. I know I have two sons from there who live with me here and return home when I do. I know my family there counts on me to be part of their life. I know my soul strips down naked and runs free in that place. Past life or lives? All I know to be TRUE is that I belong there.

I don't think that reincarnation has been proven but neither will it be disproved by this

I think in some versions, new souls can enter the process

also, souls having cleared their karma may become enlightened and no longer reincarnate

if you're really bad, you go to hell, and don't reincarnate

if you're kinda bad, you become a ghost, and don't reincarnate until you do some good things

you can reincarnate as an animal, and animals can reincarnate as humans

you can reincarnate in other places in the universe

I do believe that we have all been here before. That the people we are closest to, we were once close to in a previous life. And yes, I guess you can carry stuff over from your last life. Old Crone told me I had been traumatized by something in my past life and carried the grief with me into this life. I must have had a life in Scotland at one time. As far back as I can remember, even as a small child, the sound of bagpipes makes me cry like a baby.:)

i definitely dont believe in reincarnation, i just think the idea stems from the strange emptiness our brains can't grasp around when we consider what happens to our consciousness, all the things that make sense to us, the perceptions, the likes, and everything else after we die.
but i don't believe in souls

It is possible, but as there is no sound evidence for such a thing, believing in it would be a mistake for me. I function and I am myself thanks to my brain, which is part of my body, and the body dies.

I believe that consciousness is the soul. There is only one consciousness and you and I are the reincarnation of everyone. We are one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively.

    Just a thought.

I believe in reincarnation. I think of our /personalities as soul clothing, each life a new "outfit." I believe who I am is a product of the lives before, but I am not living in the past. The choices my soul made for this life are based on areas it decided to focus on. My choice is to embrace the journey I am on, to live it.

When I choose not to learn the lessons I set upon, deep down I know I'll learn them eventually. If not in this life, then one(s) in the future.

If a person's choice causes no harm, who can complain! We all have the will to choose our paths.

It would be nice exploring the belief in many lives with like minded people.

I should think the world cannot populate the amount of souls that have been created since humanity (as we now know it) evolved! There is also the theory that one soul could live mutiple lives simultaneously! I like this theory, with the multiple worlds with mutiple alternatives - every action creates another world! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Etse1QxwumM&feature=related Check out Brian Weiss, incredibe psychiatrist who's being doing regression therapy on over 4000 patients with fascinating results. Really powerful stuff on this whole topic.

I strongly believe in reincarnation, I feel things from my past life as well. You said something about dejavu, In my opinion I think it's from similar events or conversations from your past lives. I know nothing proves it, Except how you feel and what you believe, But nothing disproves it either.

I think the nearest we'll come is the sorta work psychiatrists like Brian Weiss are doing now. Over 4000 and fully individual in-depth descriptions every time. There are countless reports of patients of various reincarnation experiences being able to speak fluently languages they knew nothing of out of hypnotherapy.MADNESS! I dunno what else could explain this..and other information people recall from ancient lands that are just so rare but deeply detailed. People recalling ancient arabic names for Jesus no one even uses anymore, old dead names and languages...there was another one where one of Brian Weiss's patients actually described him in the same period! The patient had seen him in public in this pastlife! He knew the patient had definately seen him because he accuratley detailed his unusual appearance (a unique beard colouring quite apart from most Arabic men) and what he'd been wearing. Of course this person was just a patient, so they had no idea Weiss had recalled himself as this person previously as well. The patient was none the wiser, detailing what he saw...bizzarre...

I would like to submit for your entertainment a Zen koan (story for meditation) from Zen Flesh, Zen Bones (this book is now in the public domain):

    2. Hyakujo's Fox

Once when Hyakujo delivered some Zen lectures an old man attended them, unseen by the monks. At the end of each talk when the monks left so did he. But one day he remained after they had gone, and Hyakujo asked him: "Who are you?"

The old man replied: "I am not a human being, but I was a human being when the Kashapa Buddha preached in this world. I was a Zen master and lived on this mountain. At that time one of my students asked me whether or not the enlightened man is subject to the law of causation. I answered him: 'The enlightened man is not subject to the law of causation.' For this answer evidencing a clinging to absoluteness I became a fox for five hundred rebirths, and I am still a fox. Will you save me from this condition with your Zen words and let me get out of a fox's body? Now may I ask you: Is the enlightened man subject to the law of causation?"

Hyakujo said: "The enlightened man is one with the law of causation."

At the words of Hyakujo the old man was enlightened. "I am emancipated," he said, paying homage with a deep bow. "I am no more a fox, but I have to leave my body in my dwelling place behind this mountain. Please perform my funeral as a monk." Then he disappeared.

The next day Hyakujo gave an order through the chief monk to prepare to attend the funeral of a monk. "No one was sick in the infirmary," wondered the monks. "What does our teacher mean?"

After dinner Hyakujo led the monks out and around the mountain. In a cave, with his staff he poked out the corpse of an old fox and then performed the ceremony of cremation.

That evening Hyakujo gave a talk to the monks and told them this story about the law of causation.

Obaku, upon hearing the story, asked Hyakujo: "I understand that a long time ago because a certain person gave a wrong Zen answer he became a fox for five hundred rebirths. Now I want to ask: If some modern master is asked many questions and he always gives the right answer, what will become of him?"

Hyakujo said: "You come here near me and I will tell you."

Obaku went near Hyakujo and slapped the teacher's face with his hand, for he knew this was the answer his teacher intended to give him.

Hyakujo clapped his hands and laughed at this discernment. "I thought a Persian had a red beard," he said, "and now I know a Persian who has a red beard."

Mumon's comment: "The enlightened man is not subject." How can this answer make the monk a fox?

"The enlightened man is one with the law of causation." How can this answer make the fox emancipated?

To understand this clearly one has to have just one eye.

    Controlled or not controlled?
The same dice shows two faces.
    Not controlled or controlled,
    Both are a grievous error
