I feel culture & society in general is causing humanity to move in the wrong direcition. I can only share my experience from a small island called Jersey but everything feels egocentric. It feels like people are constantly shitting on each other to ensure they accomplish their expectations of life - even if they are completely duluded expectations in the first palce.

Years of conditioning from the media, religion and self image have caused people to lose sight of true inner potential - they are caged yet they appear to be enjoying it, perhaps it could be the clever use of the media & institutions playing on our primal instincts. It has reached the point where you cannot have a deep, insightfull conversation with somebody because they simply 'don't want to know'. What is so wrong about thinking outside of the normal, micro-sized defined box? I am having real trouble helping people to openly ackowledge that there is a major problem with the progression of our wonderfull world. Our mind is so wonderful and is capable of providing so much insight, why not expercise the powers within? why not try using mushrooms, dmt, salvia etc - these were all put on the world for a reason and I think the reason is pretty obvious. Or I guess god made a mistake?

Anybody else out there having trouble finding people that aren't consumer crazed alcholics?

    V baked post btw lolol

I was asked by someone once; would you rather be ignorant and happy? Or know the truth and be depressed.

A vast majority of society doesn't seem to truly think for themselves anymore. It is incredible how we have let a select few people control a country. We have become too reliable on the system. Greed is everywhere and its self destructive.

Nothing wrong with thinking outside the norm, if anything its good.

What I don't understand is how so many parents continue to have 3 children or more. Honestly do you think this planet needs another 2billion people? Are you trying to help with global food shortages?

Lots of people are drunks. Some are really good at hiding it too.

    THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!

If you're a girl, marry me :p. I couldn't have put it better myself. I've spent a LOT of time thinking about this exact subject, and the conclusion that I've come to is that we're raised to be ignorant in order to be functioning members of society. Think about it, if we were to all question the way the world is run these days don't you think there would be no need for 90% of the bullshit that we supposedly "Need" To be happy?
Like cars, tv, the internet, fancy houses, cell phones and all that shit. don't get me wrong, they're all useful inventions but they're completely unnecessary.

Also, if money can't buy happiness then why is it that the entire world seems to run around money. We created money, so shouldn't we be able to decide that we no longer need money, that we have enough people that we could still be a healthy functioning society? if there was no land/money to fight over, then what would wars be started over? And we need a gov't that's more accepting of drug use, not like cocaine pcp meth or shit like that, but psychadelic things that expand your mind.. Not get you hooked for life. If more people tripped on drugs we would have a lot less rape and violence, because people would just want to talk and figure things out. Which is what we need to be doing, we have the ability to express ourselves through art and communication for a reason.. So why are we dumbing ourselves down with alcohol?
    - Sorry about the rant, I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only one out there that feels this way

Some things in nature can be used to kill, so God has not created everything to be consumed. Drugs hurt the body and mind though they might feel good, or at least some of them hurt the body.

I heard a speech in which L. Ron Hubbard was suggested as a very good source for the betterment of some minds.

Not a girl sorry :p It feels good to have a rant now and again doesn't it!

I believe money does provide short-term happiness to the mislead, close minded conformist of society. They simply cannot & do not want to even consider that their entire belief system has been founded upon lies & miinformation. Their life goals are defined by their deluded belief system - which they have been working towards for years. It is too much of a hit to the ego for somebody to accept.

You're definitely right about technology - It kills me a little bit inside every time I see a 12 year old kid walking around with an iphone that cost £700.

Thinking has now somehow become frowned upon, at least when outside of the normal boundries.

    It sure does :p
Agreed, and money really only buys that short-term happiness because everything in life costs money anyway.
Yeah, that's never a good sight to see. I've seen kids even younger than that with phones and all the latest ipods it's terrible.

    True man.

For some reason a lot of taxi drivers seem to be open to discussing this type of thing. Really strange it seems 25% of the drivers I've come acrosss seem to instigate a discussion of this sort.

I hope everybody is having a great day. If not, make it great. :)

i think about this often as well, and it is a multi-faceted clusterfuck of problems.

one part of it is that people dont have TIME to think for themselves. with the advent of technology, processed foods, outsourcing overseas etc people are moving faster and doing less. people used to have time to think for themselves. to weed a garden, to trudge behind a plow. knead bread. stand staring into a pot of kitchen napalm (jelly/jam). time that is spent doing something repetitive allows your mind to wander. tv and computer are ACTUALLY mind numbing. when you fight your spouse and walk outside to do the evening chores it gives you time to cool off.
when people stopped doing this self-reflecting they allowed others to get a severe grip in their minds. politicians. religion (not that religion cant be good for some things, its just not honest, but thats a different can of worms lol) if someone else does the thinking for you, it becomes how many people can be recruited to their opinion.

ugh. this is why i have no desire to live in the city anymore. people are rotted. hollow, and not even their own ideas float in the space between their ears. id rather talk to myself all day.
