I suppose the answer is not to buy rubbish but I don't know how to eat without buying boxes and bags and bottles and cans.

I wonder how many earthships you could build with free tires. Ever drive down the highway and see it lined with tires for miles?

Sometimes I lie awake at night in a panic because I can't stop thinking about landfills.
Where is all the trash going to go?

I recycle when I can but I still feel guilty everytime I look at my trash can because the trash piles up no matter how careful I am about not consuming things that can't be recycled.

My friend dragged me to walmart tonight for the first time in a long time. I was really stoned and all I could do was stare at all the junk in the store with bewilderment. All that cheap ass chinese shit is going to end up in a landfill one day.

    It freaks me out.

tires are all over because dumps charge you to throw them out. not an excuse, just saying...it needs to be EASY to recycle and to make the right decisions. i recycle everything i can, but yeah, i still make a decent amount of trash. and i work in a science lab where i probably throw out my body weight in plastic every month. i ride my bike to work everyday though.

The worst part is that they always make packages for packages for packages.

For anything I buy anymore, I have to throw away four wrappers in its place. Where are these resources coming from?!?

Marshall McLuhan considered shoving generally 'stuff' out into outer space back in the sixties. But that was scary for the heart if not the soul.

I'm a Canadian but, boy, this philosopher blew it for the environmentalists.

i bought a board game the other day, 4 players so four colors. each color was separate, but in THREE plastic bags, inside another plastic zipper bag. why weren't they just in the one bag?

Leave 'good' garbage in full view beside the disposal bins. This isn't something just practised in third world countries by the way.

  19. We have recycle bins for glass, plastic and paper on every street corner but it is common practise here to put the big stuff at the sides so that anyone who has any use for it can take it. Works very well and the local authority comes once a week to take anything large that is there. I refuse to accept plastic bags in stores and if something comes in a bag inside a bag I take the outer one off and leave it in the store. Every small action helps!
