Ok, so last night we were just hanging around in our dorm and at about midnight a couple of RAs walked in the front door with some cops and they went down directly down the hall to my friends room and started knocking. When this happened I went to my other friends room because they were getting ready to go out and smoke and drive like we usually do. After telling them I walked out of his room and a cop was standing there with an RA. I went and hung out in my friends room but the cops sent an RA to come and get me. By the time I got back my friends had already admitted to smoking off campus about an hour before. Eventually they charged three of us with use. BTW, I had no weed on me and no paraphernalia on me, and they didn't actually catch us in the act of smoking, so I'm pretty confident that as long as I plead not guilty they won't be able to charge me with anything, because the only proof they can have is my admitting to it. Either way, after they busted us they went back to my other friends room (he didn't answer the first time) and tried to bust him too but he had everything locked away. Overall, it was a crazy night, and pretty shitty. Nobody had smoked in the dorms and it did not smell like weed at all, we were set up. About a month and a half ago we had a meeting with the living center director where he told everybody who smoked to come so we could talk about it and he promised nobody would be profiled or anything because of it. It's shitty because the meeting went really well, we basically just talked to him about why we smoke and he seemed to be ok with it. He told us that he was impressed by how much we knew, hell, on 4/20 he even told a bunch of us happy holidays and he joked about celebrating the holidays. Now with one week left in the school they had this drug bust.
haha, sorry, I'm usually better about that. Now the cops are basically harassing my one friend that got off. Tonight we were hanging out outside and we saw some cops walk directly up to his window and look around. Such bullshit.
Do you know for a fact the dorm director set you up?? a month and a half ago you had the talk.. 420 hes cool, it doesn't add up..... That situation really sucks..but you are on a college campus that prohibits cannabis (Im assuming, call me out if im wrong lol) I would confront the director about this, 1 on 1, be real, go sober, and explain how you feel..
I'm not positive it was the director, but I have no doubt that because of that meeting we got caught. Our RA was also at the meeting, and he was there with one other RA when everything went down. And there's really no way it was a coincidence that the cops went directly to 3 peoples room, each of who had attended the meeting. Especially because, as I said, it did not smell, at all. Nobody had smoked anything there that day. In fact, somebody was lighting incense, which is illegal in the dorm, but that's all it smelled like, so there was no reason for the cops to be walking to peoples door who weren't even in the same hallway as the incense smell. My school (Grand Valley State), if you're not familiar, is one of the strictest schools around when it comes to this kind of stuff. Some local church raises extra money to pay for extra cops for the campus, so we are swarming with them. They patrol all over the place and any big party (or any party with really loud music and people hanging outside) is guaranteed to get busted. The college president even asked the police force to stop giving out so many MIPs because it was hurting admissions, and the police chief told him no. MIPs are given out here like crazy, and the judge's daughter was supposedly killed by a drunk driver, so he's pretty much a prick to every college student who goes before him for this type of stuff. As long as I'm able to pass the drug test they'll have to let me off, but my other two friends are probably fucked, which is really shitty. One of them already had an MIP from October and his parents might kick him out after this. And I have a meeting with the director coming up Wednesday and I'll handle it the way everybody handled the first meeting, in a professional manner.

Yeah, he's loosened up some since that article came up, but all my friends that have gotten MIPed or caught smoking have all said he's still a massive prick. Fuck this country.
At some point in the future, you're going to go for a job interview, and they'll take a hair from somewhere on your body. If it tests clean, you're on to the next step. If not, your ap just hit the round file. I've already run into that for one of the best jobs I've ever had. I don't know how soon it's going to get popular, but I have no doubt that it is coming.
And it's illegal at the state level because it's illegal at the federal level. And I hate this country for more than just prohibtion.
Blaze, I feel ya man, you just got to go get your card if you're legitimately using marijuana to medicate. It's legal in our state, do your part and this wouldn't happen. I got charged with use last year, it's no fun, and more than $100 for court fees. In Clinton County, the judge's son was killed by a drunk driver, and is very similar in punishment if he is having a bad day(hungover) because he is an alcoholic himself. The system is fucked up, just do your shit and move on. If it's just use on your record and it matters to an employer, they aren't worth your time. We're young have fun. And you chose a horrible fucking christian fueled righ-wing school to go to and try to party. Transfer to WASTERN.
They gave me so much in terms of scholarships/financial aid help, it was hard to turn them down. I'm living completely off campus next year so I won't have to really worry about anything. I don't really go to any big parties or anything either, just like to relax with my friends and smoke and hang out.
wait, the director just asked everyone who smokes to voluntarily come to a meeting about their weed use? there's really nothing good that'll come from that. how could that possibly benefit you? you're voluntarily telling someone you break the law. doesn't matter how cool they are - you never know what they could be up to. if you got busted because of this meeting, it's partially your own fault. especially since they seem to take it so seriously, it's best to keep that shit to yourself.
Well, there was risks involved in not going. Three of my friends were sitting in the common room, and he confronted them about the smell in the hallways (another friend, who lived across the hall from two of those people had smoked in his room not too long ago and it did smell in the hallway), and told them to spread the word about the meeting. He said he would come down on anybody who he suspected of smoking that didn't attend the meeting. He could have called the cops right than and there. The director is pretty cool, I even had a meeting with him after this and discussed the events and other things with him, he had nothing to do with the bust, it was just our prick RA.
