    Hi all,

I'm new to the board, having only found it today. I thought I'd stop by, and maybe get some advice.

I've been an indoor barefooter for years now, but several weeks ago (I.e. When the weather turned) I put my shoes in the back if the wardrobe and just went barefoot as much as possible (excluding work, it just won't fly there). I've walked the length and breadth of cork city, never had any problems with shops.

I admit though I probably cheat slightly since I always wear baggy jeans, and you can Only really see my toes poking out, unless someone goes out of there way to stare. I've gotten a few odd looks, and I still feel a little self conscious, but learning to cope with it more.

I was just wondering though, are there precautions I should be taking regarding the health of my feet? I'm careful where I stand, and always clean my feet when I get home (not a big fan of dirty soles), but is there anything I should be doing?

    Thanks guys

    Paul

No, there is nothing special you need to do, but learn to walk toe-heel, rather than heel-toe (fox walking).
This will eliminate ground strike and protect your joints better than any shoe could.
You will find plenty of info at www.barefooters.org
    Welcome to the forum!

Just develop a habit of sorta watching the path you are taking. As your soles get tough the better off you will be. Eventually, its possible to walk over broken glass provided you lift your feet rather than sorta scuffle along. The latter is not recommended but when I went to college there was always lots of broken beer bottles all over the place, so you either dealt with it or didn't go barefoot. I chose the former.
