So my husband was cleaning out alleys for work, and he found a TV. He gets to keep stuff he finds, so he brought it home. It's a 32" flatscreen...it's a bubble back, but it's still pretty nice. It's in perfect condition except that the buttons on the TV don't work, but programming a remote fixed that problem. Ahhh, trash. If you keep your eyes open you can find some pretty cool shit.
Once I get me a pick up truck Ima trash hunt all the time.. I only trash hunt a little right now.. but ive got tons of stuff, actually furnishing whole houses with just the dressers and wood items Ive found...... I save alot of wood items from landfills!!!!!

Latest find: We were helping checking cattle today and there's an old abandoned farm house on our cousin's property. It's pretty trashed, and two owls flew out while I was in there and scared the crap out of me. We got an old copy of Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, a cool 50's coffee cup and a soup cup, and a couple dozen old photos that were taken in the late 20's early 30's. A lot of them are postcards or those lifetime guarantee professional photos from the 30's. One of the postcards has a little boy who's naked except for a leaf covering his junk, and it says: The times may be tuff, But a fig leaf's enuff, To keep us warm out here. In spite of Depreshun, We join the proseshun, To wish you a Prospruss New Year! "Denny" Smith Pinch-hitting for Rray, Vreda and Boys. And on the back is has a California postmark dated 24 Dec 1931, and a 1 Cent Franklin stamp. I felt weird about taking the photos at first, but after looking through them it feels right. They're amazing snapshots of this family (who lived on our family's land and knew them) and they were just rotting away in that house. They have a good spirit about them.
There's also a picture of this woman on the Battleship California on Long Beach. Ugh, my husband also picked up a couple of cow skulls. They're completely dry and picked clean, but they still gross me out a little. Those things are creepy.
Where my parents house is used to be a store in the 30's. When we dug for our pool a couple years back we found all these old bottles and stuff. It was pretty cool, my mom collects stuff like that so now they're in their house! haha. We also found some really old school books in a closet, along with old pics.
