Anyone listen to them? One of my favorite bands and their new CD (well a year old now) Octahedron is pretty great. I like every single song on the CD.
They are good, I was really into them a few years back. The only time I've puked on psychedelics I was listening to mars Volta on shrooms and I thought the music was mocking me, I told my friend to turn it off LOL. I've seen them twice live. The first time was on The frances the mute tour and they were incredible. Great energy, great guitarist and drummer and the singer was crazy live. The second time I saw them a few years later was pretty disappointing , especially since it was on new years eve. They added like a small brass section and the guitarist was playing another instrument like a flute or some weird ass woodwind instrument and the sound clashed and vocals were not audible at all. I still enjoy de-loused in the comatorium the best.

I agree with everything GB has said here, and he even posted the songs I would have. Thank you though viscera eyes is also wicked.
I was into them a few years ago. Started digging them after I saw them live at a music festival, they put on a great show.
fucking love de-loused, listen to it all the fucking time fave band, hahaha i actually had no idea who they were, my ex dragged me along to see them live, and i fell in love with them trippin to frances the mute is so ace. elvia is my favorite song by them right now
De-loused in the comatorium - Love it!!! It's pretty dark and morbid, but in a way I can really appreciate. Kinda warry about tripping to it though. I think I did once for a little bit, but it got bothersome soon. I'll always remember listening to it over and over on a roadtrip from FL to NY.
y'all might wanna check out Omar Rodriguez Lopez's solo albums and such. the guitarist from mars volta experimented after the band. guys a slight genius.
Also the pre Mars Volta group with the guitarist and singer called At the Drive in has a quality record called 'Relationship of command' more in the vein of punk then progressive.
One armed scissor is a classic... Mars Volta is good but i saw them open for the red hot chili peppers back in 06(?) and i really didn't think they were that great live, no where near as good as studio recordings. But even so, they are so creative.
yah one armed scissor is great. My parents saw them on that tour as well and didn't like them. The first time I saw them was at an outdoors amphitheater and they were amazing, Ive hypothesized their live show doesn't translate well to indoor arenas and venues. Where did you see them at?
yah it seemed to me like when I saw them the 2nd time indoors like all the effects just got trapped in the arena and reverberated back and they play pretty fast so there was no space, it just came off as a wall of noise. In the outdoor ampitheater everything was heard much more clearly for me and didnt echo back.
One of my favorite bands. Does anyone else see their music as a metaphor for the psychedelic experience? They are so trippy sometimes..... most of the time really. I would be surprised if they weren't influenced by it.
Such a sick band, Goliath is my fave song. Such a cool story behind the song and that chorus with the drum shots is just so damn awesome, that was the first thing that popped out of that song that made me love it
Yea I really like the chorus guitar riff in goliath. But bedlam in goliath is my least favorite album of theirs. Day of the baphomets is an awesome song too its just pure insanity which is why I like it.
