Obviously, there is a lot of complaints against the government, so I was wondering what you would do instead. What would you do if you were in power?
Turn all of our armed forces into one giant-assed airforce. Take all our troops home and embark on a non-interventionist approach to foreign policy. Open up the borders to anyone who wants to work here. Legalize pretty much everything, and license it (Murder, theft, assasination, drugs, prostitution) Make the unions in charge of law enforcement and issue annual quotas. And if anyone fucks wit us, I will unleash a storm of fire and Brimstone unseen since sodom and gemorrah.
First off after the men in suits knocked on my door and informed me that I have just been given ultimate power, I'd make them clean up my property, mow the lawn, and replant some bulbs. Then I'd decree an immediate holiday to celebrate myself, everyone is off work right now, go have fun. I'd begin the process of having a massive parade for myself through the streets of every major city, a nationwide tour complete with elephants and belly dancers. I'd declare weed legal and I'd have a massive party with free herb and food for everyone. That should fix things. ha ha. c'mon. a question like that can lead to a very long report (done in detail) that would probably require a new server just to hold it. So I'll just maintain my two cents for legalizing cannabis across the board.
Well if I were in power over the US... I would pull all our military out of their bases across the world (except Iraq) and spend the extra money from that on foregin aid, and beefing up our intelligence and defense (and real defense, not this crap the US tries to pass off as defense, but really is offense). I would give most the political power back to the states. I would end the war on drugs. I would leagalize marijuana and other natural substances, and legalize prostitution. Then I would tax the hell out of it. All my extra tax money would go towards the deficiet, environment, education, research, intelligence, defense, and social programs. I would give major incentives for developing clean energy for homes, cars, planes, buses, trains, anything that is stinking up our environment now. I would revamp our government agencies so they are actually public servants, and not businesses. That goes for everything from police to post office to prisons. The entire nation will be covered with wi-fi access, becuase too many people are living out in the sticks that don't have the access to information that they should have. I would lift restrictions on file sharing. I would expand our national parks. I would crack down on businesses that pay illegal immigrants next to nothing. I would make sure every person in my country had proper health care. I would cut house, senate, and president (my own) paychecks by at least 50%. I would try my best to dissolve this shadow gov't we live under now, and try to be as honest and forthwright with the public as possible. Really, I could list pages and pages of crap I would change, this certainly isn't the end of my list...
I take the constitution and retunr it to it's original state (although changing men to people) Say hey this is the ultimate law of the land, have fun, and that would be about it... Government should be no more than that...
My first act in office would be to commute every federal death sentence to life in prison with no parole. My second act would be to pardon every person convicted of a nonviolent federal drug offense or nonviolent federal gun offense. I'd privatize social security, and auction off unused government military bases in Europe and the Pacific to pay for the deficit. I'd abolish the federal income tax, and replace it with low sales taxes and low tarriffs. I'd reduce government spending to about 15% of its current level. Following the January 30 elections in Iraq, I would immediately withdraw all American troops from the country and advise our allies to do the same. I'd repeal the Patriot Act, because the intelligence to prevent terrorist attacks is achieved through more efficient - not more intrusive - FBI and CIA practices. I'd slowly phase out Medicare and the Department of Education, over the course of about ten years. I'd push for tort reform (I favor the Carville plan to the Bush plan), and encourage Congress to overhaul the archaic copyright and patent laws. I would push for a constitutional amendment reforming our electoral system, including the abolition of the electoral college, and allowing any 18-year-old citizen - regardless of place of birth - to run for President, Senator, or Representative. I would appoint judges who recognize that the 14th amendment includes the right of any consenting adults to marry...and even though I'm pro-choice, I'd appoint judges who would allow the states to decide their own abortion laws. I would adopt a moderate stance on environmental issues. While it's important to protect the environment, it's also important to not support every knee-jerk environmentalist bill that would cripple the economy for little environmental gain. I would take actions to destabilize the Iranian, North Korean, and Russian governments...but not including invasion. I would end the trade embargo and travel ban against Cuba. I would encourage Congress to repeal the federal minimum wage, and allow states to set their own policies. I would push for looser immigration laws, but not throw open our borders to anyone who wants to come. I would try to make sure that illegal aliens are not mistreated by the police, by employers, or by citizens. I would reform the prison system. What exactly is gained by locking someone away for years, if the dehumanizing conditions in prison simply cause more crime? I would favor separate prisons for violent and nonviolent criminals, and more checks and balances to make sure that prison guards and wardens are not abusive to inmates. I would allow states to determine their own affirmative action laws. I would restore our reputation with the world community by pursuing a more conciliatory foreign policy. First of all, it is stupid to refuse to talk to our enemies and pretend that the problems do not exist. Talking to someone does not equal appeasement. While I would reserve the right for America to act unilaterally if necessary, there is no reason to give our allies the finger when they disagree with us. That's all I can think of.
1. Abolish The Federal Reserve System, and the CFR 2. End The Drug War 3. Abolish The CIA 4. Declassify all Classified Documents 5. Abolish the WTO 6. Pull out from the United Nations 7. Limit Corporate Donations to Politicians 8. Pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan and End The War On Terrorism 9. Lower The defense Budget and use that money to feed hungry nations 10. Lower Intelligence Funding and use it to feed and clothe the poor Peace and Love, Dan
How exactly do you plan to defend the nation against terrorism with policies like these (minus the first half of #8, which anyone except George Bush can plainly see is a good idea)? We need intelligence agencies to help foil terrorist attacks ahead of time, rather than merely reacting to the tragedy. As for #4, does that apply to military/intelligence plans too? Personally I'm of the opinion that this simply cannot be done, no matter how many laws say otherwise.
1. Stay in Iraq 2. Cut spending by 20% 3. Lower taxes on everyone, and make it so anyone earning under $18,000 a year isn't taxed at all. 4. Cut off foreign aid.(well except for the countries we kind of bombed) 5. Lower drinking/buying age for beer and soft liquor to 16, hard to 18. 6. Pull out of the UN 7. Give more rights to states. 8. Privatize social security, and hopefully slowly get workers off it. 9. Get rid of most of the patriot act. 10. Lift the ban on Cuba 11. Tighter immigration laws. 12. Increase the budget for NASA 13. Lift most restrictions are gun ownership 14. Go after trusts and monopolies 15. Try to bring down the WTO 16. Bring back Pink Floyd
I'd push for a constitutional amendment affirming that unborn humans are legal persons and another denying this status to corporations.
How can you seriously argue that the 14th Amendment abolished any legal distinctions between male and female, when it specifically acknowledged such distinctions with respect to voting rights? Wouldn't it be more honest to push for a gay "marriage" amendment? Does this mean you admit that Roe v. Wade was constitutionally baseless?
Abolish the monarchy Abolish compulsory military service Seperation between religion and state Free education and healthcare Establish a minimum and maximum wage Build up the industry A more efficient police Suspend those stuends who bully Legalise drugs for personal use Foreigners who break the law are to be sent home to their home countries (big problem with criminal foreigners where I live) Remove all troops from foreign nations Nationalise capitalist property Economic aid to those countries who are supportive of economic and political equality.
Nope. So what are the new laws? Your plan sounds very authoritarian (which is fine, at least when you are punishing war criminals), but what do you really want to achieve? What kind of new world do you want to create?
Man, I'm sure glad you people are not in control, because if you think this place is fucked up now , holy shit, ya'll could fuck up 400 years of work in just a matter of minutes, but I guess thats why you losers hang out here and don't run for office
No. You are correct that Amendment 14, Section 1 (equal rights), directly contradicts Amendment 14, Section 2 (references to males' voting rights). However, one of those was basically repealed by the 19th amendment, while the other has not. I've never claimed that Roe v Wade has any constitutional merits. I don't see the right to an abortion anywhere in the Constitution, nor can I even see anywhere that such a right is implied. With that said, I would still favor state laws to keep abortion legal.
The only explanation is...you are insane. You're absolutely insane. Your government sounds a lot like Russia's, where the answer to every problem is to imprison and/or kill someone.
The 19th Amendment merely codified women's right to vote; it didn't redefine the "equal protection" clause of the 14th Amendment to mandate a radical legal doctrine of absolute androgeny. I'm sure your fanciful reasoning would come as quite a shock to those who ratified either of these amendments. Gay "marriage" has no more basis in the Constitution than the "right" to abortion.
no, I'm not a loser, but I also understand that running a country is not an easy thing to do, nor do I pretend to the ability to do so, and guess what neither do any of you.
