surrendering to the void... being able to die consciously.. releasing the ego games.. merging with the cwl, becoming all and all becoming.. you know what song is really good & about tripping... 'tomorrow never knows' by the beatles, check out the version on Disc1 of Anthology 2..
ive been eating mushrooms recently in hope of acheiving that 'ego loss', but so far nothing. 'spose ill just hav to keep eatin em...
I think your mind has to be ripe for a person to experience ego loss.....I don't think that anybody taking mushrooms or acid will experience ego loss, they need to be ready to experience it. That and they have to know how to do it.
how does one know that one is ready for ego loss on acid and wat happens if u try to make ur peace with acid wen ur not ready for it
again I think its just one of those things you know.......its just something that is if you're really interested in it check out some books by Ram Dass, he went from taking tons of acid with timothy leary to going to india and studying under Maharaji and became a holy man.......he was a psych professor at harvard so he knows all they psychology of it....like ego and what not.....so check out some ram dass, maybe some timothy leary, or look into meditation to learn to calm and quiet your mind...as that where ego loss comes from....and you'll be set!
like already said, its something you have to be ready for... best way is to do alot.. and i mean a lot.. of research.. read books.. like the psychedelic experience (thats what changed my acid trips from pretty colors to ego-shattering experiences..) read other leary books, ram dass books, hofmann, mckenna, etc... you have to really be in the mind set... you have to believe that what is going to happen to you is real.. you cant have too many expectations.. you have to just not tell yourself whats going to happen and just accept whatever you might get. at high enough doses, even the strongest ego will break down... but the more unprepared the ego.. the stronger it will attempt to be.. and you dont want your ego trying to come with you... you want things to be true and not distorted (not usually too pretty either) by your ego (which doesnt like to give up control) but yes meditation is practically a must if you really wish to tune in to the divinity within. I just remember that I didnt 'really' trip the first 3 or 4 times I did acid... then I expanded my research and learned what psychedelics actually truely was... and i flooded my subconscious with it all...oh and curiosity always helps... you have to be willing to discredit everything youve been taught.. you have to learn to not let political leaders, religious leaders, educators, etc. control the way you think.. you have to make the decision to operate for yourself.. to turn off the robot auto-pilot remember.. the secrets of the universe within and without can be a devestating blow to the unprepared mind...
that was an excellent explanation, lostchord and iwould agree - flood yourself with information. the confusing thing about it all is that you have to prepare... to be unprepared. Humans without thinking about it, are constantly trying to label an experience as good or bad, and preparing for the next moment accordingly. The "clear light" (as mentioned in the book of the dead) can only come if one is willing to drop all their analysis and preparation, and will only endure if one doesn't attempt to hold on to it. But, because we are human and automatically will impose games on everything, the only way to get to the void is by PREPARING, before the trip, to let go. Programming the trip beforehand is the best way to avoid ego-anxiety which could quickly turn heaven to hell. It is important to gain knowledge and analyze before and after the trip, but not during the trip. if your apathetic before the trip, its likely you will be trying to figure things out during it that can't be figured out. Once you let go, the answers will reveal themselves for you.
the 1st time for me was the best experience I've had.. after having done acid a few times and nothing really happening.. i did a lot of research and was amazed at what I was finding out.. so that real 1st time I completly gave up on any sort of expectations and thoughts on what it might be like.. I had fully convinced myself to accept just whatever happened and to 'turn off my mind and float downstream' I dont think ive ever been in such a clear state of mind before or after that day.. i was ready to have my mind blown... and the expectation on what that even meant were way off.. it blew away my mind being blown away.. it was just perfect the perfect day for it.. perfect timing
