OK, here is my homemade Chili made E-Z in just 14 easy steps with absolutely no special tools and totally mess free. Anyone can do this. How do I know that anyone can do this? Well, because I just did it! OK, lets get on to the pre step. That is, go to the store and get the goodies. The pre step ingredients are: 1) 1 pound of beef 2) Can of Kidney Beans 3) Can of Tomato Sauce 4) Pack of Chili Powder 5) Loads of Cheeze 6) Jalapeno's - I ran out of cash, so none this time around. Once I got back from Wally World with this shopping list, I got busy. Lets get on to step 1. Step 1 is we are going to cook the Hamburger in our special little 12 volt cooker. I line the cooker with aluminum foil so we have easy clean up. Step 2 & 3: Locate your beef after the shopping spree. I got my burger in a tube roll that was 1 lb. I just cut the end off and squeezed out that wonderful beef. I flattened it out a bit so it would cook up really nice. Step 4: Cook for 50 minutes. Once cooked, it looks a bit like a meat loaf. Look at that steamy burger.
Step 5: Get a oven roasting bag that you normally use for cooking a turkey at Thanksgiving. You don't need a huge bag for this little snack. Place your newly cooked burger in the bag. It is going to be hot, so you may want to let it cool a bit before you head into step 6. Also, the grease and aluminum foil I tossed in the garbage, as we don't need any grease added to the mix of goodness. Step 6: Mash up the burger. Again, don't burn yourself. Step 7: Now it is time to do some "Social Networking". Yeah, lets add all the ingredients so they can chit chat, mingle for a couple of days and get happy. Here are those ingredients from the list above. Step 8: Add the above ingredients and again mash it all up. When you are done, should look something like the picture below. Also, I did drain the beans. I did not put all that juice in the bag of goodies.
Step 9: Tie the bag in a knot and throw in the "Super Cooler" for a couple of days. We really want the "Social Networking" aspect to have time to work its magic. Step 10: No Mess, No Fuss, and no dishes to wash. Want proof? Perfectly clean hands ready to move on and do something else. Step 11: 2 Days later I resurrected this "Creation In A Bag". First, I took 2 pieces of aluminum foil and joined them together by rolling it up a bit before I place it in the cooker. 1 piece does not go high enough on the ends to keep my goodies in. Normally I would just cook it in the bag, like Sloppy Joe's, but I wanted to add a ton of cheese, and I did not want my cheese all over the bag. So, squeeze out all the goodies into the new aluminum foil lined cooker. Step 12: Find your cheeze from your shopping spree. I love Velveeta, so I got the "Mexican Flavored" variety. I could not find the small box, so I got the big one. More than enough for 2 pots of Chili.
Step 13: Cut up the cheeze to your desired thickness and gently place very strategically on top. Step 14: The final result about an hour and a half later. I was only going to eat half today and then half tomorrow. Hum, I went to McD's to get me a dollar Coke and ate about 2/3 before I know what was going on. Later that night I ate the rest. Man, what a really good Chili. I am going to make some more really soon, and I would encourage you to do the same. You can drive down the road as it all warms and cooks, and when it starts to smell up the "Mobile Casa", that is when you know it is about ready to be devoured. Hope you enjoyed this no mess Chili Recipe.
Brother Logan, how does this recipe for supper making you feel? Brother Kenny told me he was licking his computer monitor after viewing this super simple yet super delicious and affordable snack! Here is another cooker full I did about a week later. However, this time, I added the missing "Jalapenos" to the mix for a great kick of flavor! unk:
Yehaawww!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some good ole Mexican Food in my little cooker. This recipe is super simple, easy, and really pretty inexpensive. Lets get on with a couple of the ingredients we are going to need. 1) Corn Tortilla's 2) Refried Beans 3) Diced Green Chiles 4) Cheeze 5) Hamburger if desired 6) Enchilada Sauce 7) Chopped Onion 8) Wolfe Brand Chili OK, first thing is first, and lets go find our little cooker and get that rascal all lined with aluminum foil and spray a shot of Pam on the foil just for good measure. Then I am going to get out one of my handy dandy little foam plates to keep everything clean and healthy. Once I get that out I get a little round tortilla shell and then I start doctoring it up with goodies. First I add some refried beans, then I added some more of that "Wolfe Brand Chili" as it was left over from the first patch I made up. Then goes on the Onions and Pablano Pepper that I cooked for about 1 1/2 hours in the cooker before I placed it on the tortilla shell. A Pablano Pepper is similar to a Bell Pepper, but much better for this application. Once I get all that on there, I then add the Great Value Diced Green Chiles on top and then sprinkle with a healthy dose of cheeze. I am using the 4 Cheeze Variety Pack thing from Kraft just like I did on the first experiment. If you had some hamburger cooked up ahead of time that would be a great added flavor for your "Buds". Once I get all 3 of these little fellas stuffed and rolled up, I place them on the greased up foil. I put some refried beans in the corners to fill in the space, and to give me some more goodies to eat when the diner bell goes off. Since I had more onions and Pablano Pepper there, I strategically place it on top to add more flavor.
Since I like Cheeze, better put more on top, then top it off with more Diced Green Chile's and get this little rascal plugged in and going. Can you smell it yet? Oh man, what a meal. You have got to try this. I think next time I will put a little Taco Flavored Ground Beef in each one of those rolled tortilla's of goodness. So, are you ready to see the finished product? Yeah, I thought so. I can assure you, it taste just as good as it looks, or, perhaps even better.
Brother Kenny, what a great idea! You know, I do these to let folks know that as long as you have a 12 volt plug in, you can have more than just PBJ or cold lunch meat sandwiches when you are out and about traveling this great country on a tight budget. Of course I have done this for many years, and have lots of different recipes, however, just don't have the pics from back then. Many years ago, I had 2 of these cookers going as I was cruising down the road in the big rig. One had a Jenny-O Turkey Breast & the other one had home made dressing. What a yummy Thanksgiving dinner I had that day. Hey, since we are on the "Road Pro" topic, how about another commercial right now! Shake N Bake - Gotta Love It. I put 2 wonderful and skinned chicken quarters in my little cooker. I let them cook about 1 hour 45 minutes. One was done but the one on top still had a touch of blood, so I will cook it a bit and be good to go. So, I guess 2 quarters need about 2 full hours to completely cook. Place the foil with the shiny side down. I did not put any water in with these chicken recipies. Gently place your chicken quarter in just the right position that will catch the most "Shake N Bake" Goodies. Cook for about 2 hours. Since there are 2, you could share with a friend. Since I don't have a friend here, I will just eat both. Look at this tasty treat after being cooked for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. NOTE: Needed about another 15 minutes for the top leg to fully cook. I did an experiment today with this little cooker. It cooked the entire time and did not bother my battery for starting the van at all. I have been nervous in the past as to how fast it would kill my battery. These 12v Cooker Lunch Box things must be really efficient.
You are so funny Brother Kenny, hey, how about this commercial? I love spicy food, however, just not as spicy as I did a few years ago. I know I went overboard before, but I do have that out of my system. However, I want some spice to give my food a great flavor, and a nose that runs a bit is OK too, as that will take care of a cold or any cold that is thinking of coming along. So today we are making our Beanie Weenies with a bit of Spice. I am going to add "Jalapeno's and Onions" to the mix. So, to get this show on the road, I get out my trusty little 12 volt cooker and line it with aluminum foil. Once foiled, I cut up 4 "Bar-S" brand hot dogs. Not need to get the expensive ones for this creation, as the cheepies work perfect. Here are the other 2 canned ingredients plus the onion that is not in this pic that I had already diced up for my chili and hot dogs. Put the 4 sliced up hot dogs in the bottom of the cooker, then gently add the Jalapeno's and Onions on top. Don't want to wake up the dogs! You could let the onion cook in the cooker for an hour or two to give it that grilled kind of flavor. That looks good so far. Now lets add the "Great Value Baked Beans". How do I know that they are a great value? Well, I can read the can! Wally World would not lie to their consumers, would they? OK, here are all those beautiful and wonderful baked beans smothering all those dogs and spices. I think I let this cooker of goodness cook for about 1 hour. Actually, no cooking is required, as it is just heating up. Man, check out this finished product. Seriously, it was not as spicy as I thought it would be, but it had a fantastic flavor for my "Buds" - "Taste Buds" that is!
PS R U Get-N Hungry from these commercials yet? These Beenie-Weenies are really good with out the Jalapeno's as well! unk:
Check out these wonderful, awesome, "Sizzling Shrimp Fajitas". Can you smell them from there? OK, I did not cook this in my cooker, but I have got to figure out how to cook this incredible creation. I am thinking a camp fire or perhaps a really big skillet with propane. Geez, after this commercial, I am going to have to take a break and head on over to "Casa Sanchez" and get me some Mexican Food! You can see the whole "Casa Sanchez" write up at my blog, but don't go if your hungry! PS If you are into Chinese, there is a new book out titled: "40 Ways To Wok Your Pet!" Hum, that just ain't to funny to me! I am going to be sticking with "Shrimp", and not the "Brine" kind commonly known as "Sea Monkey's".
It is true, I found the master of living a true and "Simple Stress Free Lifestyle" totally off the grid. I did a write up last night on my blog about my visit yesterday with the man they call "JC" - commonly known here at the Hip Forums as "2 Dogs". You can find it at my blog, then go to "My Adventures" then "May 2011". I had a great day, and I got a great tour of the "Green Machine" and heard the 8 speaker tunes system and got to pet the doggies. Brother JC and his 2 doggies truly live a "Simple Stress Free Lifestyle". Keep living the life bro. Again, thanks for a wonderful afternoon. I am so glad that I got to meet you in person, and I am looking forward to the tour of your "Back Yard" in the very near future.
If you need a burner for skillets, you should look into beer can stoves. But do keep in mind they make soot that you don't want on your food, got nasty plastics and stuff in it. You can also take the idea and use larger size cans of the same style, or sometimes, totally different containers, if you need a lot of heat.
Yes, I am back in IN safe and sound. I had no problems on the way, and it was a pretty pleasant journey. I did take a lot of pictures, and I have got a few of them worked up, but it is going to be a while before I get them all posted. A total of 1704 miles from when I left to where I am here in SW IN. I have not figured up my MPG avg., or the total cost, but I did write it all down. I do have an application in for another trucking job, so I think it is looking pretty good. It is driving a tanker, and they are nation wide, so once I get things taken care of here that I need to do, get some cash stored up, I can again head out west for the winter. This company is also located in Vegas, so that is a pretty good fit for me, since I really like those buffets! Thanks for checking in, and thanks to Bro JC for checking in with me as well. I sure appreciate it guys. Take care, and keep living the dream!
