I'm 63 now and I will never forget -- When I was 17 the family was going on vacation and I had a sore throat so I went to the Dr. to get fixed up.

Got back in the room and the Dr. came in and gave me a 500 mg shot of penicillin and walked out. I got up, got dressed and started out. Just as I got by the Drs. office my pubic region started itching, the the hair on the nap of my neck. I looked at the doc and told him I was starting to itch. He looked at me, got wide eyed and him and a nurse drug me back to the exam room - laid me on a table.

Ohhh - it was soooo sweet. I was floating above the table and every thing was so cool (temperature wise) and oh so pleasant. I don't know how but I could see the nurses running in and out and the Dr. was cursing like a sailor.

I felt so good - I wanted to stay where I was - I damn sure didn't want to come back. There was a nurse sitting by the exam table holding my hand - I felt nothing but pure unfettered love for her. Really hard to explain.

When I finally started to come to - I told the Dr. about what I saw and he said I didn't see anything - I was gone.

If I was gone I want to go there again. Sooo sweet.

Lots of people have or so I've heard. Some of the stories are really cool. Real - or trick of the mind - I don't know. One thing for sure - we may not have a near death experience - but there's a damn good chance we'll have a real death experience.:sultan:

    I had a near-death experience.

My house burned down. We almost didn't make it out, but a neighbor woke us up by banging loudly on the door and shouting; if she didn't come back from the bar (on St. Paddy's day) to get smokes, I wouldn't be writing this.

I've never had one of those near-death experiences though; I'll stick to shrooms for my trips =P

I have heard several accounts of near death experiences. They seem to follow a similar theme.....
I'll try mine with shrooms as well....:-D

It really depends on the experience, most find it wonderful and ethereal but a small percentage report images of hell and devil-like creatures torturing the damned

I had one at 19. I hit a brick wall at about 40 MPH on a motorcycle. It was somewhat glancing hit and saved my head. As I approached I had an interesting reflection of my life, how my parents would feel, how my body would be killed. As I hit and flew up I noticed things on top of the building's roof, an old shoe, some trash. By that point I went into shock and was completely goofy in my response to injuries. I noticed broken bones sticking out through my shirt and thought how it ruined a good shirt. I realized that the shoe on the roof was mine, knocked off on impact. It was a review of little stupid details rather than great meaningful insights. shortly after hitting the ground I really lost track of everything, not quite unconscious but definetly knocked what little sense I had right out of my head. Interesting is my best description though not so much that I'd care to repeat it.

Only happened to me once. It was also the first time I was in a physical altercation with someone. I was 11 years old.

I went to a friend of mine's house down the street. I remember him well, he was much more arrogant than I was. I wanted to use his pool table and he was all hyped up on caffeinated sodas and action movies that he wasn't really allowed to watch. We decided to go swimming. I went to find a pair of shorts and he waited for me in his back yard. I grabbed a small bite at my house, put on my shorts and left towards his house. I got back and he jumped out from behind the side of the doorway and shoved me into the pool. Once he did, he jumped in after me and held me down under the water. As if he was trying to drown me.

I took it as a joke pushing back lightly. Expecting him to let off any moment. But after 25 seconds I was becoming starved for air and I started to really try to push him off. There is no real way to explain the terror my entire body felt, an instinctual form of urgent electricity that brings every ounce of strength to whatever extremity aided my escape. I pushed him away, with a great surge of power and jumped out of the pool and stood on the deck. He tried to get out but I kicked him in the side of his head and sent him back into the pool. I broke his nose and fractured his jaw, or so I found out later. I didn't mean to kick him so hard, I just felt like I had no choice. Never spoke to him again.

There is a place... Like an immense hallway. Like you could take off, fly, and land a 747 without hitting anything. It's lined with dark alcoves, but the hallway is very brightly lit. The light seemed to come from everywhere, and there were no shadows. There were two stairways. One very ornate, and it sounded like a party going on. The other was old, frail, and looked like it would crumble into dust any second. There are no muscle aches or any pain of any sort. Like complete comfort. And, a scent that I have never been able to recognize, but one that I would never get tired of. "dragon's blood" comes close, and so does "wild briarwood", but not quite. Then, I was told I could not stay, and immediately I realized I was lying on a very cold and hard concrete floor, and my head was throbbing like someone hit me with a baseball bat. I had to have 7 stitches where my head hit the floor, but I didn't feel anything while I was in that hallway.

I was told that a cop had been giving me CPR for nearly 15 minutes, and was about to give up on me when he got life-signs back. I had accidently been breathing oxides of nitrogen. It doesn't turn the lips and fingernails blue like carbon-monoxide. But, it's just as deadly. It's also had a profound effect on my life since then.

I'm not sure that I was actually close to death this time, but...

I was working outdoors once, years ago, and got electrocuted. I got a bad pain in my chest and my body stood straight up very quickly. I felt a quick painful flash surge throughout my arms, jaw, and chest. Then I just stood there completely frozen for a few seconds. My mind didn't think, I didn't move, nothing. Just stuck, frozen. I "came to" after a bit and I felt like shit.

Work was done for the day...

the closest I've come to a near death experience was when I was a child. The cool thing in elementary school was to swing on the swings as high as you could go, and then jump off at the zenith of the arc

I swung higher than ever before and jumped. Time slowed down. My young life flashed before my eyes (which, much to my dismay on later reflection, included remembrances of "battlestar gallactica" episodes). I guess whatever you experience in life can be experienced when your life flashes before you.

In any case, I eventually hit the ground without dramatic consquences.

I had a near death experience when i was about 20....rode a ride at the state fair called the Kamakaze...the harness holding me in broke...my Brother had to hold the harness to me while the ride went in motion full speed...back and forth...forwards and backwards...high in the air!!! I could have screamed all day ...no one would have heard me say STOOOPPPP..lol. Scariest day of my life...i must have told him a million times...please don't let go...when the ride finally stopped (which of course seemed like forever)...i stepped off onto the ground...i was so shaken up it felt like walking out of an airplane...as if there was no ground. I of course told the operator...never have/will ride any carnival rides that leave the ground.. unless it is Six Flags...Disney World...etc...ones who maintain safety...no set up..tear down..fairs...

Should say eventhough my Brother saved my life...imo...he is also a jackass that held me under a few times as kids..and i do remember one time ..thinking i was going to drown...the panic/terror of that...i feel that poster who went through that shit lol

When I was a boy I was very accident prone so I had one like every year. I’ve been hit by a truck, had my head split open, got dragged out to sea. All kinds of shit and it was never pleasant. Each time it got around to feeling like someone was holding a pillow over my face and I couldn’t breathe.
