You could try saying that but he sounds stingy. I would find a pain management clinic in your area. Being in CA it shouldn't be too hard to find a Dr. that is liberal with the pills. I've always went in and just said hey this is what I've had in the past and they have wrote me the scripts. This is not advisable however. With most Dr.'s if you were to go in and ask for a scrip by name they would immediately recognize this as drug seeking behaviour.
My wife has a decent position in the medical field in the area so I know a lot of the area Dr's personally.
Really??? Do tell. Message me please. My doctor sucks! And thank you so much for your time and information! Big hugs ~
Oh wait, do you mean your wife is a doctor in YOUR area. I got all excited for a second. lol. I usually just bring my MRI in, and show them my old bottle, and they believe me, but this guy sucks. That sucks that people have made this such a hard thing to be honest with when you have legitimate pain. Booo!
Haha, I dunno either. Lemme see - there has to be some kind of private message thing on this site... hang on tnx!!:sunny:
OK - I added you to my contact list - BUT we're not experienced enough on this site to have access to the PM's... bummer!!!!
Pikie, Norco's active ingredient is Hydrocodone, and is derived from Codiene. Percocet's active ingrient is Oxycodone which is derived from another compound found in the poppy plant called Thebaine. Oxycodone is about twice the strength fo Hydrocosone. So if your Norcos have 10mgs of hydrocodone, a Percocet which has 5mgs of Oxycodone would provide you about the same pain relief. Now depending on who you talk to, some will tell you that the high from these two are different. I found that they provide about the same kind of high which to me is a nicebody high with some euphoria. I find it hard to believe that if you are doing tht much Norco that Percocet would get u sick unless you did same MG level of Percocet that you were doing of Norco. If anything i would start out with Percocet taking half the MG amount than what you were taking of Norco.
Thank you. Actually when I got the Percs I didn't have a big tolerance as I hadn't had a regular doctor for a while and only had been taking pain pills when I could get my hands on them. Funny enough my Dad has major back probs and would sell his stuff, and he was getting 120 80mg Oxy's, 180 Vics and 180 Norco's a MONTH! Yep, I swear. I only would get the Norco's from him - here and there - till I had my MRI and realized I was screwed like him and could legitimatly get them myself. So if my Dr gives me 5mg Percs and LESS of them to exchange my Norco's with, it's gonna be the same thing pretty much? Because one 10-mg Norco is like a 5mg perc right? And thank you for the advice!
OK, First off, It sounds to me like this Dr isnt anything more tha a Pain Mangement Specialist. Most PMSs (yeah Ironic right) have seen so much opiate abuse that for sanitys sake, they dont get very personable with their patients, basically they act and do exactly the way you desribed him. However, He shouldnt be doing the scripts for your sleep aides, Narcotics and pain meds only really. Go to your family DOC for the sleep Aides. The doctor that I have the contract with is a Internal medicine dr, and the one that seems more concerned for me is only a general family dr. Isn't internal medicine suppose to be higher up than a regular Dr? Also, the lowest dose of Tylenol you will find in Norcos will be 325mgs, also 500 mgs 660mgs and 750mgs. 4000mgs per day is max recommended dose ive seen. If you are consistantly going over each day by 1000 to 3000mgs, then at some point, depending on your diet, this will come bback to haunt you. Also, just so you know, those are also the standard doses of Motrin that you will find in Percocet. So just by witching to Percocet, It doesnt take away the concern that your taking too much of these fillers daily. So Go look at your medicine bottle and read off to me what the actual dosege of each pill is. It will say something like 5/500, 5/325, 10/660, 10/325, 5/750.....etc Im starting to thing that a 10mg Roxy might be exactly what you need, maybe even a 15. Roxys are Oxycodone only tablets, has no tylenol or motrin in them. They are about a 1/3 the size of your Norco. So post up and let me know the exact dose of each of your Norcos.
Wow! You rock! Thank you. He is an internal medicine guy that told me he would take me on as my pain management dr. BUT my girlfriend who is younger than me by 9 years sees him and gets the exact same stuff, and he didn't have her sign a contract. He's very forgetful. BUT he also gives her everything he gives me, PLUS he gives her ambien, but told me he wouldn't give me ambien cuz it was too much stuff. WTF? Makes no sense to me. Anyhow - my norco's are 10/325 and I get 120 a month - I also get 2mg xanax from him.
If you have a health provider who will work with you and trusts you, ask for a pack of ten Toradol shots. It is the most amazing NSAID for severe pain, and you can take them short term and lower resistance to other drugs.
toradol can only be used for short terms. but you can get the shots every other week be in the safe zone.
HAHA ok I'll cruise around and check out some other sections and build the post count....wonder what the cut-off is
Well I need to find another Dr that trusts me cuz I just got in trouble (as I posted in another thread) for going to another Dr while under contract with him, because he wouldn't help me and I was in pain - so I got chewed out by his office, they scolded me real good, and I have yet to build up the courage to go see him again. I'm afraid he's gonna tear me a new one. lol. Should I go see him again? Or try finding another Dr? I have seen 4 total over the last few years, and one would only give me flexeril - which made me VERY sleepy - One wouldn't give me anything - and 2 gave me the Norco's - so with no insurance it's a gamble with my money whether the new Doc will give me anything... But if I find myself in a position to do so, I will ask. Thank you very much!
haha, not sure. It might be in your settings if you chose NOT to receive PM's - or it could be your post count. Not sure hun.
Tell us again what your Current status is with Drs. Down here in Florida, What we call getting same type of med from more than one Dr is called Dr Shopping! Normally the sole reason you sign a contract for your pain meds is too prevent you from Dr Shopping. Now, having said that, we don't know what your current contract says. But at a minimum I would think that it says you are not allowed to go to another doctor outside of Emergency Room visits to obtain the same or same type of meds that you currently get from the Dr who had you sign the contract. It also could paossibly say that not only can you not get the pain meds anywhere else but it might include othet types, such as Meds for Depression/mind altering, Sleep, NON-Narcotic Pain killers, muscle relaxers.....etc So tell us the Drs you are seeing, what you are getting from each and possibly what your contract says...!
