Believing wholeheartedly in conspiracy theories without any critical thought to whether they might not be true can enslave the mind just as much as not giving them any credence at all. There is some truth to most conspiracy theories but they need to be approached with a critical mind.

I'm not saying anyone here who belives in some of this stuff has not approached it with a critical mind, I am speaking more in generalities.

 

I actually meant that the political message gets across in films and tv in far more ways than a straight news broadcast. A lot of hollywood films are simply promoting some political idea. TV shows often reinforce the ideas of the political establishment. There are a lot of very subtle ways you can be fed the information that politicians want people to have

The media are really not a conspiracy theorie because everybody can look up who controls them, see the links in this thread.
And they deliberately influence people- the worsed thing is the excessive use of violence and injustice in movies and other to make people less sensible to violence in their wars and other. A person who can wath a film where one human being hurts or kills another one without suffering or feeling pain while watching, is already desensibilized and dumbed down, is already more of a zombie than a human being especially if he LIKES watching that violence.
