Or possible allies would be the hotel owners and the tourist department at City Hall. I can see this being a major stumbling block for future conventions and tourists in general. It might be well worth someones time to contact and netrwork groups of this sort.

No- certainly not all of us- but an insignificant enough minority that it is fairly easy to discredit not only what we either know or suspect, but at the same time use the manner in which we vent our dissent to characterize us as not being all there. The best form of dictatorship is the overtly free champion of human rights that culturally encourages its subjects to be their own tyrants.

But if you're not doing anything wrong, it won't hurt you, and it will catch criminals.... All the rapists and murderers and drug dealers and terrorists and artists and free thinkers we could catch would far outweigh your small privacy sacrifice. And again, it won't hurt you, because you're none of the things I just listed.... riiiight? So if you oppose this, we can assume you are.

Combine required ID checks with iris scanning IR cameras and even sunglasses won't protect your identity. Then use the cameras inside the venue with lip reading software and there you have it. You won't be able to go anywhere or say anything in public without it being on record indefinitely.

The only way to maintain your privacy will be if someone develops contact lenses that mask your iris in both the visible and IR spectrum. Sounds like fun.

The return of house parties indeed. But then they'll try yo infiltrate your party with undercover police, just like they do at my college. They send undercover police posing as students to infiltrate private residences in order to bust underage drinkers. The school paper is filled with reports about police abuse during the arrest and processing. Kids are left in puddles of their own urine while ziptied in the back of the paddy wagon...

Vat is dis 'comstitution? In dis country ve haff no 'Constitution'. Ve haff Patriot Act and Homeland Security to enforce it against enemies of the sta... er people, You haff copy of dis 'Constitution of which you speak? Come with me!!!........

As to house parties etc, in England I traveled a while with the folks that stage the Stone Henge and Glastonberry Festivals among others. They use farmers emty fields after harvest and set a stage at one end of the field and at the distant other end of the field their teepee circle. The tourists etc gather in the stage area and gawk at the bands and meanwhile any serious talk between them and their friends and invited guests takes place within the teepees.

Well they should have thought about being abused by the police before they did something that the police found an illigitimate way to bust them for so that they could abuse them.

No I am none of these things if you let the government control you on little things like this then the more they are going to try to control more of your freedoms. Yes they should put it on rapists and murderes and sex offendors but not for innocent people.

You are 'one of those things'. Your post makes it clear you are a dangerous 'free thinker' and likely at least a potential radical! Smile you're on Candid Camera!

So here's what the oligarchs would get from this:

The trick is to find a way of characterizing an innocent group as dangerous to cultivate a generalized willingness to strip them of their freedoms... how to start- first we can break a series of stories about "studies" that show most rapists are unemployed. Repeat with follow-up stories going into depth about how the possible link between joblessness and violent crime and instruct local news services to indicate the employment status of every suspect whose alleged crime makes the news.

Create a link between violent criminal behavior and unemployment in the minds of the terminally gullible public who deems themselves to be involved... await for feedback that demands action- a solution from the government; then offer it in the form of compelling all the newly laid off to register with a special security watch list and submit to wearing a tracking device or be compelled to relocate to a detention center... a debtor's prison. Hell- make being unemployed a crime itself.
