In health class we have to do a project on substance abuse and while everyone is doing like weed and steroids etc.. I'm doing Opiates so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what I should include and have in there.. So far I have a few sentences of what an opiate is and listed types of opiates but im not sure what else to write.. does anyone know if i should include or where to find facts about addictions/deaths/overdose/ preferences , how long it took to get addicted? Or etc ... or like what would be interesting and appealing to present ??? THANK YOU .. and no I cannot hand out samples to the class
Talk about the re-emerging research and link between opioids and their antidepressant potential. Discuss benefits such as quick onset of relief and discuss flaws such as tolerance build up and stereotypes. There are a good 5 peer reviewed articles on the subject that I can think of.
MENTION THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR Opiates are the only drug that seem to dull the stress of reality to the user. That is one of the things that makes it so appealing. Also, throw in famous users, famous overdoses, common combinations (IE Speedballing, Benzos)
go to your highschools library and they should have print copies/online copies of medical journals which will give you lots of facts about opiates. also use google, search here for a fuckin' WEALTH of knowledge..
Watch the Oxycontin express. A recent movie they made about the abuse of oxycontin down in Florida. A major epedemic fo pain neds here in Florida has been big news over last year or so. Hundreds of "pill Mills" being closed down, lot of people going to jail for sekking perscription opiate pain killers. Heres a link http://www.hulu.com/watch/100279/vanguard-the-oxycontin-express
