You're a leech. If you can come to terms with that, good for you.

Shake off the haters dude, you're not screwing over the tax payers., you're only keeping the already millionaires from making a few extra bucks off you.

Did you know that the vast majority of bankruptcy claims are due to medical debt? And that 3/4th's of these same people had medical insurance? Our health care industry has turned large numbers of doctors, health insurance company executives, lawyers and pharmaceutical company executives into multi-millionaires. Don't feel guilty for not paying these con artists.

I had insurance in 2006 and needed 2 surgeries to keep me from going deaf. Despite having what many considered "excellent" insurance I still wound up owing my doctor and the hospital over 15K. Did I pay? Hell no. I was paying $150 a month for insurance and had been for several years. Wasn't about to risk eviction or having my car repo'd to pay these fools for a gross over charge. Despite the marks on my credit from all my medical debt WITH insurance, it has not held me back. If there is one knock on your credit that will get overlooked and shrugged off, it's medical debt. I never get turned down for anything credit wise, then again, the only knock on my credit is medical debt.

My girlfriend is a nurse for an agency and the shit she tells me that doctor's due doesn't surprise me. Over charging out the ass. Then again, I knew long before her that our healthcare system was a huge scam. I witnessed it watching my dad die of cancer. One of his cancer medications was 10K a month. I'm supposed to believe that's a realistic cost? There's a reason we haven't found a cure for any of the cancer's or other medical ailment. Why cure anything when pharmaceutical companies are making billions off them? There is so much money being made off simply extending the life of those with these diseases that when a cure is made, it's nothing for these people to throw insane amounts of money at the biotech or whoever comes up with the cure. Watch the news. You'll hear of a "wonder drug" that appears cure something and that further studies are needed. Then you never hear of it again. Funny, wasn't Magic Johnson diagnosed with Aids in the very early 90's. yet he's still alive? Hmmm...I guess when you have money, you can find ways to get to those cures that aren't on the open market thanks to these Pharm co's.

Look at the Pharm Co Billionaire list

i didn't read all the posts. but someone said that creditors would be after you in a few years and that's not true. if you check your credit report all of those debts are probably listed.

if you couldn't afford it and got it for free it would be one thing. but if you just go to a regular doctor and skip out on the bill it will show up.

There are programs for people who can't afford to pay their medical bills. It isn't cool to just not pay them.

In the UK, we don't get free healthcare, it's free at the point of need, but paid for through tax & national insurance. Which is the only sensible way of doing it. Having said that, fuck knows how much longer we'll have an NHS, given the shower of dickheads we've just elected.

It's properly fucked up that a person could injure themselves then be hit with a massive bill, and I don't blame the OP one bit for not paying. I also can't believe some of the idiotic replies to this thread. I'm glad for so many reasons I'm not an American.
