    So, we'll likely know by this Friday, March 25th, if there's going to be a Federal Election this spring. If there is an election who will you be voting for? What do you like about any certain party, what do you dislike about any certain party?

    To be blunt none of them are ideal candidates and I wouldn't really want any of them to be Prime Minister.

    Pretty sure the election is going to happen, the opposition parties have no faith in the budget, its not that its a terrible budget, but its not that great. And feels like a last ditch effort by the conservatives. The other parties are denouncing it, which I agree with for the most part, but at the same time I feel like they are demonizing it because it did not fulfill their demands from Harper (To which I respond, your party is not in power, and therefore will not get all of your demands filled).

    I would like to see someone other then Harper in power. But I agree with you lunaverse that the other potentials are not going to have me screaming to vote for them. In the (paraphrased) words of South Park, I am not looking forward to choosing between a giant douch and a turd sandwhich. I am looking forward to hopefully a non-conservative government, however trivial the differences in Canadian politics really are..

    I do not know who I am going to vote for yet. But hopefully enough of Canada has had enough of Harper.

    That's just it. Whatever party gets elected, they'll only have as little power as the Conservatives do right now, which is the main reason it's so damn hard for any of them to actually get anything done.

    I don't care who gets elected or how little power they have, as long as it isn't Harper and/or the Conservatives. They need to go, for good.

    The worst part about Canadian politics is that, unlike the US, we have options but we never choose to exercise them. It's always either the Liberals or the Conservatives.

    People need to realise that those two haven't done much in the last few decades, so why not try someone else?

    Looking at this list of parties frustrates me. Divided liberalism is what it is. It's also the only reason why conservatives are in power in this country.

    All the Conservatives ever talk about is money, that's all they really care about. All I've ever heard Harper state about his party is how they helped Canada get through the recession without getting "hit" as hard as the US.

    Unfortunately, that is important to a lot of people. If you have seen some of Hapers current commercials. One of the things it says goes something along the lines of "He was ready when the recession came, and will be ready when the next one comes". Does not phase me, but I feel a lot of people will be bought in to it, no pun intended.

    This is because money is such a "hot topic" agenda and an easy way to swing votes in one's favour.

    Bring up tax cuts and people tend to tune out to anything else after that.

    I may vote for the Green Party, but I'll probably just spoil my ballot. None of these parties truly represent my views.

    Ugh. I can't bring myself to vote for anyone. I'm right of center, but see nothing conservative about Harper's party. They're liberal lite.

    I will probably vote for the NDP but I'm not a huge fan of any of the candidates or the parties they represent. :/

    *sigh* Canadian politics

    Toss-up between Green and Liberals.
    A lot depends on how my riding will go. If it is going to be a walk away from the Conservative, then I'll vote Green. If it's a close race, then I'll probably vote Liberal.

    Not at all satisfied with the Conservatives and I rarely consider the NDP.

    Is there any way to find out how the people in one's riding are leaning?

    For example, is there any way I can find out who in my riding has the best chance of getting elected, or who the most people seem to be leaning towards?

    I'd be interested in knowing that.

    I know on a federal level the Conservatives are currently in the lead with 40% of the popular vote with the liberals behind them at 30%.

    Three polls have had pretty well the same results showing this.

    Maybe its too early for me or something, but I can't find any riding by riding poll numbers...

    However, if you put your postal code in on this page (right hand side half way down) and call up your riding, it does give you statistical info about it, including which way it has voted in the past.

    There is this, but it was made for the last election and they aren't updating it for this one, however they say they are coming out with a new one...

    Old one;

    New one;
    http://www.projectdemocracy.ca/ - not yet active

    As for the polls, just remember, they take into account their projections for people staying home like they usually do. If the people who normally don't vote get out and cast one this election, the poll numbers would be way off...

    IF...

    Here, a listing of ridings that harpers cons only won by a couple of percentage points... the people in these ridings especially must get out and vote for an opposing candidate.

    They will list the alternatives to the cons rep in each riding, which I beleive is based soley on who is best positioned to beat the cons...

    http://catch22campaign.ca/notes

    There are 40+ ridings listed across the country so far.
