Sometimes when I wake up I yell and cuss and throw a fit and don't even remember half of it or what i said. It is not drug induced. not hangover related either. I don't think its always related to lack of sleep either.

I wake n bake and everything's cool and I apologize to carri and she tells me what mean things i said to her five minutes prior. I don't even remember them. It's like when a friend tells you what you did when you were blackout drunk, but this happens in the course of ten or so minutes, and no drugs.

is this normal? or if not normal, at least common?

Its normal for those that dont channel energy elsewhere... Not like your in the army or something HURRA up and atom off with exercise.. Survival training.. Your survival training now is to put your world back in order upon waking.. its just coming out differently...

I also think that while your sleeping, you are gaining oxygen.. something you seem to be kicking back out with the smoking, screaming yelling.. You dont like oxygen?.. hehe...

Since you know you are doing this. You should be able to turn it off, or direct it elsewhere.. Maybe control the yelling, eat a better breakfast, not rely on pot. Though you say its pot that calms you. I can guarantee you are smoking tobacco when raging (smoking mad) smoking mad isnt very good for you either... you probably are getting addicting to this waking habit, not just the smoking. But the yelling - while you was sleeping as mentioned you gained oxygen, then wake up reaching for tobacco first. You just winded yourself and now your body needs more oxygen., Thus leading up to the yelling.. your subconscious knows its gets more oxygen when your yelling..

I don't smoke tobacco until after I smoke pot. there's no yelling at that point. I think you're right about getting addicted to the waking habit. I've wake n baked every day for years.

i use to do this. i would wake up and start thinking something awful, as in imagining my worst nightmares.

for me i think i just dreaded what was to come.. i was thinking about all the people i would have to put up with in reality and all the shit they were going to do to me ...

in some ways i think its just something that is forcing its way out of your system. but on the other hand the more you do it, the more you are likely to do it because its a pattern behavior.

it could be a build up of stress hormone in your body. you could try sleeping in running shorts and going running first thing in the morning before you smoke.

It could be that you need a cig real bad when you first wake up. I know I always felt like utter shit when I smoked. Quit, it's not that hard

I've done it too...i dont think its uncommon...the battle is near won once you realize that its happening...you can control and choose to be angry..or not...my kid has told me things that after wards he says''i thought you would be madder''..and other times he says''why are you so mad over something so small''.....i'm working on it....i try to not run out of weed cause o already know its a trigger if i do

I am always angry when I wake up. it takes like 20 min. for my mind to get into full focus. but I know I am like this so I just stay by myself for the first 20min. till I am more alert.

I also found that back when I smoked weed this would be a lot worse. once I quit it turned very mild. for me it took about 90 days of not smoking before i really found out what being sober is.

I am never in any sort of rage in the mornings. I don't think I have met someone who gets angry when they wake.

It actually could have to do with the hours you work. I read a study once that found people that work second and third shift suffer higher rates of depression and their bodies never really get used to the hours. If you wake up at 3 and your natural circadian rhythm instinctually wants to go to bed when the sun sets and rise when the sun rises, then completely switching that schedule could certainly produce some morning grumpies.

speaking from personal experience, I used to stay awake all night and sleep until 4 because I didn't work until 5, and I always felt like shit when I had that schedule. I feel so much better waking up in the morning, enjoying a full day's sunlight, and going to bed somewhat early.

It could also be hormonal. My friend used to wake up in rages too and birth control helped becase it balanced her hormones. I'm pretty sure your a dude so thats a moot point, but there might be something your doctor can do for a male hormonal imbalance, if thats the case.

You could always have a sleep study done.

How much weed do you smoke though? If youre smokin all day everyday, you might be jonesing for it by the time you wake up... Maybe try to stop for a week or 2 and see what happens?

This is probably the best explanation. I feel the seasonal changes a lot too. And I really do enjoy when I wake up early several days in a row I feel more productive and awake and alive.
