I made it today with only 4mg of Suboxone. Some days, I swear, the stuff seems 2 times as potent as other times. I take the stuff the same way every day, but it still is never consistent.

I am doin' fine on only 4mg again. My Magnesium supplementation is helping reduce my tolerance significantly. I suggest it to any chronic opioid user. The reason it works is that Mg++ is able to block the NMDA-glutamate channel over the cell membrane. It is known that tolerance to opioids and other drugs of abuse is caused, largely in part, by the over-transmission of neurotransmitters through the Calcium channels. Magnesium, emulating Calcium, can plug those channels and trick your brain into thinking you aren't tolerant. You have to do two things, though:

a.) Buy only chelated Magnesium compounds. Inorganic compounds of Magnesium like the ever-popular Magnesium Oxide, have low bioavailability. Chelation creates an organic compound that can be absorbed. Example: Magnesium Citrate.

b.) You need to take a lot of it, like 1000mg of Magnesium a night (4 average pills). It doesn't have any noticeable side-effects, so that isn't a problem.

Just some advice you might find interesting.

    i do find that interesting..

do you have any links for your resources? i'd like to read up on this as i've never heard of this. i have a monster tolerance and i'll do anything to lower it aside from not taking opiates...

I don't have the links at hand, but a relatively thorough google search with terms like "Magnesium NDMA antagonist", "Magnesium opioid tolerance", "Magnesium glutamate blocker" and such would give good references. Unfortunately, a lot of the medical papers only show the abstracts since you have to pay to see the body. However, there are some articles that don't require membership (those are the ones I viewed obviously).

Sorry I can't help more. I really should keep a "library" of good references to all of the knowledge that I gain in searching for things.

I dunno if he does but the new Suboxone's come in a strip form. Have you seen them?

That's what I am prescribed now. They are the 8mg strips & they are impossible to blow.

haha yes they are impossible to blow. smh.

i was skeptical about the strips, but i put an 8mg strip under my tongue, then cut another 8mg strip in half and put it under my tongue for a total of 12mg, and needless to say i was feeling rather fucked up. (this was when i didnt have a large opiate tolerance like now :( )

lol....yeah I know that suboxone will fuck ya up if you don't really have a tolerance for opiates. But if you do have a tolerance than it's kind of hard to get really fucked up on them. They just give me a little glowy feeling for a little bit when I take them. It's hard to explain.

    :sunny:

Im 60 yrs old and have been on methadone maintenance for better than 20 years. Talk about a tolerance***100mgs a day for about 15 yrs> before that I stayed on 50 Mg's- so I could still feel the dope over the mdone.
When I first got on- (belive it or not a NY judge recommended that I find a clinic before ATTICA ends up being my address for many years)
I guess he was a WW2 vet & saw that I was also a vet (thats a whole different thread, probably a whole different site) so he had a little compassion about my re-entry into the world period.

anyways- -I dont know how it is with the sub drugs- -they werent around back then- -but I do know that people with long time mdone tolerances say the same thing" Why cant I het high on methadone?"

Well even at 60- every now and then (dope is out of my life for many years )
I will take 1 of the take home bottles I get and drink it on top of my reg 100mg- - that would be 200 mgs an then take a 2 mg xanax on top of it all.

I certainly dont recommend anyone fucking around with thier medicine, but its a once a month thing for me- Im extremely careful.
Its really the only way I can get that opiate high- - it is different than a dope high, but I take it.
Addiction is one of the most horrible deceases- the waste of time, money, relationships , lose of family, friends,.career..etc..etc....

I dont know how I got on this rant?- -Oh "what opiate am I on now?" >>>
I guess that would be 200mgs of mdone* * *
    - - if you read my entire story- thanks, its kinda like therapy for me

    with peace&respect
    jack

Actually, i have insufflated a few chunks of Suboxone Tablets before. When I was first given the drug, I was given 6 8mg tablets until the pharmacy called in the films (doctor scripted it this way-you can't just say you want tabs haha). I enjoyed the rush, but overall I prefer orally (well, buccally/sublingually) much more for various reasons.

    Hey Jack,

Interesting story. I've only taken methadone once - not sure how many mg's it was but I definitely didn't get high off of it. It's weird because I'm prescribed 8mg suboxone a day and sometimes I feel like it doesn't do anything and other days I feel like there is a slight high feeling. But again, I can't really describe it in words. I can say that the suboxone definitely does work when it comes to the the urges that I used to get. I can finally enjoy my life again and not worry when the next pill dosage will come around.
