any one have any experiance in dooing this. its soposed to be cheaper than than buying mice as snake feed

I have a black mexican king snake, hes young and still on pinkies. but hes growing and will need larger critters for food.

its still prettty timid and nippy, but thats normal for a young king snakes. the bites dont hurt much anyways.

dude, breeding mice is as simple as getting a drink of water when standing by a river.. Ya get a male and a female CHECK THAT THEY'RE THE SEX THE SHOP SAYS THEY ARE- some pet shops have no idea. Females have lil keyhole type holes under their tails, and males have like..kinda like peace sign (without the circle) shaped holes.

Put them together. I think they breed about every 2 weeks. You'll be totally swamped by mice if you're not careful, I've been told.. get a cage and some mouse mix and a water bowl and some stuff for them to play in, cover the ground with sawdust or shredded paper (at LEAST line it with newspaper) and make sure they have a lil box or somewhere they can be out of view and feel safe. And don't keep them in your bedroom, mice are nocturnal and my sleep has never been the same since I got my mouse. I need another female mouse..come live in NZ then i'll buy one off you *angelic face*

I used to breed for my snakes, too. I kept them in groups of 1 male and 3-4 females. I never seperated the males from the female and the only time I had a problem with cannibalism was when is got really hot(they were kept in the garage).

Look on line for a cage design using a kittty litter pan and a top feeding grate. Its the best for saving tiem and cheap.

As far as swiss webster, if you're gonna breed a lot, its worthwhile to find these. If not, you should just find some healthy white mice; they'll wwork fine

    Peace

PS. They stink really bad even if you clean them regularily, so I suggest you have a location away from the house to do this.
