so swim is normally a slightly pessimistic guy who has a hard time talking to other people. When swim trips he has a new appreciation for the world, is very sociable and outgoing and feels he has found the answer for how to behave in this world. when SWIM trips he thinks he has changed for good and he can keep up this great mindset and positive outlook because the answer always seems so easy. After 2 or three days tho SWIM goes back pretty much back to normal. Sometimes if its a really powerful trip he does take a little from it. SWIM wants to know if anyone can relate and if you all have any tips for incorporating the beauty of the trip into your normal lives. Im sure many of you have dealt with the same issue. also does it have anything to do with other drugs. say for example doing adderall or smoking cigarettes brings u back to normal

    "nig420" lol.

the only way is hard work man. there's no shortcut. the drug ends, your body metabolizes it, and you're back to square one, with nothing but time. It's tough, it's real growth, it's getting your hands dirty.

you could increase dose, or pay particular attention to setting and set in order to potentially increase the introspective quality of a trip. maybe trip alone.

What porkstock41 said above. Increase dosage and trip alone but also, keep an open mind and stay relaxed, if he/she really want to change their life in a positive way permanently.

But also, it can vary from person to person. Everyone is different. If he/she wants to change (without the use of acid), he/she must learn how to communicate and accept others' opinions and beliefs.

Also, what Mr.Writer has said, it takes hard work. Especially time. (Can be long or just a blink) :D

Ya I know what you mean. It can be hard after having a really inspiring trip to integrate it into your life and figure out how to do things differently. But be patient with yourself! One day you may look back at some of your trips and understand them from a completely new perspective that could be more helpful to you then, instead of at the present time! :)

But what everyone else has said is right. No drug can solve the immense personal struggles of life for you. But acid can show you the infinite possibilities of the universe and inspire you to ask questions and think thoughts that never occurred to you previously! And it's from these thoughts that seeds of understanding can slowly grow inside your consciousness until they eventually help you overcome any negative habits/behaviors that you might want to change in order to fill your life with more happiness.

Also, other then tripping alone or tripping in a good setting with some good friends (both of which can be amazing experiences!) I'd suggest going into the trip with your positive intention for change and inspiration at the forefront of your mind. Intention is a powerful thing in general in life, especially so with psychedelics! You'd be surprised how much it can affect how life events shape up.

For me personally though, meditation has been an extremely helpful means of "incorporating the beauty of the trip into your normal life." While LSD can help you to see the world as it really is, beautiful and full of love, there is no separate "beauty of the trip" its always been there, even when you were sober! :p Now of course meditation can be extremely helpful in many other aspects of life too! but I thought I'd mention it. Meditation, however, isn't for everyone (at least not at certain times in one's life journey) but that's not a bad thing! there's a time for everything for everyone

^^^i agree with going into a trip with intentions of change and inspiration, but i've found that they often come unexpectedly, and if you go into it with too much expectation, you may be let down.

i agree with KIN too (welcome to the new members who don't appear to be trolls!)

You have to change what's "normal." In a psychedelic state, if you're open to it, you can redefine or change your understanding of normal. Already you're looking at your old normal and finding it lacking. As mr.writer said, there's work to do (but just for the rest of your life).

    Good journeys to you.

Embrace the things that make you different and what makes others different.
LSD is amazing, but changing aspects in someones personality using drugs just seems wrong to me.
Try to use your critical and pessimistic mind to make things better as you see fit.
If you can embrace every aspect of yourself, that is the first step to functioning effectively with others.

One way to look at personality, ego, and so on is as defense mechanisms and needs meeters developed as infants, before we were capable of rational thought/critical thinking. Drugs (can) open your mind to see who you really are and can be.

When you find out who you are, beautiful beyond your dreams...

Ya I totally agree porkstock! But intentions and expectations are two very different things. You can have positive intentions without any expectations of things happening. Id say expectations can be pretty problematic in life in general though.

Sorry I missed this question. In terms of changing my mind, it was awhile ago - I was getting high a lot and had a pretty groovy hippie business which didn't make much money, but it was fun. I had a chance encounter with someone who was working (I can't say exactly what) helping people and it was like, Yes, the IT I'd been seeking - a way to better live the reality of us being ALL ONE. Of course going back to school and all the other work didn't include getting high so much, but for me, service has been enormously important in living my life with greater integration or consistency with beliefs, reality, and so on.

i wouldn't focus so much on trying to hold on to the revelations of tripping. it leaves its scar regardless. if it's super important it will most likely arise back in to your experience naturally.

I'd suggest writing down your experiences. Try writing stuff down during the trip. It might be hard to write much, but if you can, jot down some important points for yourself to remember in everyday life.

Also, can someone please fucking explain to me this "SWIM" business? It makes no sense and is infuriating to read.

SWIM = Someone Who Isn't Me

It originated with people trying to cover their asses on drug boards in case any law enforcement official (LEO) were to be reading their posts. Using SWIM, in fact, does nothing at all to protect you if the police do want to bust you and use your posts as evidence.

Now back to the LSD talk.

You don't learn anything, you are shown something.
