This happened last year. The guy was doing 102 mph to get his wife to the hospital during labor. I think he should be charged, honestly. He was putting himself, his wife, his unborn child, and everyone else on the highway at risk by driving like that... http://www.myfoxboston.com/dpp/news...eives-speeding-ticket-in-court-today-20110404
Fuck that. I'd be hella panicked if my wife was in labor and I'd be driving like a madman. 102mph is mild. Bitchboy cop should've given the dude a police escort, if anything. That's not how cops operate though.
I understand it was an emergency, but husbands bring their pregnant wives to the hospital every day and none of them are ever caught doing 102mph. It was definitely unnecessary
I think the teens that drive those speeds just for fun are a bit more deserving of the tickets than some nervous new dad. This is just one of those situations where you'd "have to be in their shoes". I'd like to say I'd take the chance on a car delivery if it came down to it - but lots of babies need special medical treatment after birth so I really don't know. I'd rather risk that than risk everybody's life in the car. Then again... We lived out in the middle of nowhere and I'll tell you what, my father cut that 60 minute drive in half for my little brother and if my momma would have had a bull whip she'd have gotten us there even faster.
my gf went into labor and I left for work, went to work, come back home .. took her to the hospital, went back to work and waited for them to call me when she was closer.. didnt that bitch have an obgyn?.
I would drive like a bat out of hell. If I was a mile or two from the hospital and the pigs lights were on, just keep going. If he doesn't understand have your wife scream at him. Then just walk into the building.
The ticket shouldn't have been waved. He was speeding, and putting people in danger. But I understand a panicked response when your wife goes into labor for the first time. I also think someone who mocks a disabled person should be punched in the face, but think the person who punched them should be charged. I think child killers should die, but I don't believe in the death penalty. I don't see any cognitive dissidence there. The law should have leeway for extenuating circumstances, but this was not that case.
OP makes a compelling argument and I didn't think about it that way when I first heard the story. I have changed my mind about the cop being a dick =P
so he was in a rush to take her to the hospital because she was pregnant? was there some sort of complication with the pregnancy where they needed an emergency sonagram or something?
saw this on the news and thought the cop was an asshole but now that i see 102 miles per hour...i think thats rediculous to drive that fast with your pregnant wife
yeah you are putting your child's life at danger. My father had to drive my mom to a hospital 30 min away from my house with a chunk of metal in his eye when my mom was going into labor with my brother, and he didn't speed like that...and she was pretty far along. I guess they dropped the speeding charges against that guy. This tells the world, "HEY! If you want to speed erratically to get your pregnant wife to the hospital, go ahead!"
This thread is funny since so many people think 102 is fast. Its really not if your car is not from 1982.
Lol. i have gone 135 mph before for like so long. It was dope. There were other people in the car, but no babies lol.
